This was by far the worst prof I ever had. I dont like to blame professors, but she was the worst ive ever had. I got called lazy in front of the entire class for asking for a copy of her written notes and had both me and other students get publicly belittled and humiliated for asking ANY questions or not understanding, And shell blame you for it.

Comment:

One of the hardest classes I've taken. She grades very tough & gives very vague feedback. She wants YOU to work for answers to your questions. Get ready to put your pride to the side & put in some major work. Do all of the ec she offers, & GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS!! Despite the course's difficulty, Shirin is passionate & makes the struggle bearable.

Comment:

When you ask questions about something like the equation or information, she will call you out and explain why you didn't know the information you just learned. Another thing is that she doesn't really speak too much about the lesson and continues to explain stories. I think she's good in person, however online I don't think it is worth taking.

I tried really hard in this class and went everyday. I never missed a quiz or a class, went to all extra credit and still failed the class. I tried talking to the professor many times but she didnt give any exceptions.

Best professor I've had at COS. Shes amazing and I wish i could take her class again. PHY20 requires a lot of math, which i am awful at, however her teaching and test reviews are very helpful.

This professor seems very interested in her field. She explains the topics with excitement and it can be contagious. She cares about her students and is disciplined and prompt. She inspires her students to be the same. I would take more courses with her.

One of the toughest classes I had until now. Shirin is good at teaching and she expects a lot from the students themselves. It is not an easy class and if you miss up days or even homeworks you will suffer in the test, especially if you do not know physics. I recommend her if you are willing to work hard for the A. Do he extra credits she offers!

Beware. The tests are MUCH harder than the quizzes. No graded HW. Just quizzes, tests, and some ex cred. Go to class and you won't need a book.

She helps you realize that learning math is important if you want to take charge of your life. She teaches the material clearly and she answers all students questions about homework every day. She gives practice problems in class to help with the upcoming homework. She cares about her students and is very helpful outside of class too.

She is a wonderful teacher. She taught me more than just physics. She helped me realize that school and a good education mattered. I worked hard for this course, but I knew that I was investing in my own future. I learned a lot. She is available and welcoming outside of lectures. Her labs are interesting too. I would take her again.

She knows a lot. She loves to teach Physics and when you learn it, she gets very happy. She is very enthusiastic and full of energy. Study for her class, it is not going to be a piece of cake. She will tell you the truth about where you stand in her class and what you have to do to make it. She is very helpful when you ask questions.

She is great. She explains everything from the bottom up. She teaches the class like she hopes everyone is going to be a math major. She cares about her students. She helped me regularly. She is a very nice person too. I would take more of her classes.

The 5th week of class a girl behind me walked in late and Prof. Shirin asked me why I was late & told me to write my name down to be docked points for being late. I told her it was not me who was late and the girl behind me even told her they she was the one who walked in late. She spoke to me in the most rude tone. She was not nice after that.

She has so much energy and interest, you have to pay attention to see why. She explains material clearly, tries to motivate you to learn and go forward. Take her if you really want to learn Math and continue your education. oh, she is very nice too.

Comment:

No recommendation. Needs better explanations upfront. Overall just needs better use of time instead of just letting people go to the board and do problems and fight for extra credit points, it was VERY annoying to hear about that constantly. Honestly though, just study. Don't coast. Take it upon yourself to really learn everything. Trust me.

So if you need a teacher to hold your hand and walk you through a semester Shirin isn't that teacher. Expect a fast pace class, with expectations that you can figure things out on your own. All in all, I benefited from taking her class because it taught me how to be more self reliant.
