I liked Prof. Cox. He and I got on well because I came to class prepared. I found him to be very accessible, very easy to ask questions of, and very helpful outside of the classroom. He won't teach you how to write a complaint or answer, but you'll know the FRCP inside out when you finish his class.

I love Prof. Cox for an environmental law related class. He cares about the world and really knows a lot about climate change global warming. I appreciated his teaching style, though very different. This was an elective class, taught they way they should be taught!

Comment:
Grading law school professors is difficult b/c they're not exactly "supposed" to teach the material. That being said, Cox doesn't teach anything. And since ConLaw is already so difficult, this class requires an incredible amount of self-teaching. I purchased the Chemerinsky book and read that INSTEAD of the casebook and received a B+.

Honestly the worst professor I've had in my life. He bounces around from topic to topic without giving you notice. He lives in the world of "maybe" so he never answers anything. Good luck to everyone who has him. We all had to teach ourselves the whole course.

Prof Cox means well and has great enthusiasm, but I found myself bored to tears in a class I had really looked forward to upon entering law school. He discusses the dissents and concurrences first, which doesn't help anyone. While 4 hours was bit much, I actually liked his final which is not your typical law school exam. Keep a case list.

Well intentioned professor but he cannot teach, write an exam, or grade. I read the book from front to cover, outlined, and made note cards and received a C+. That is the lowest grade I have ever received in any class at any level of school. I know students who never read or outlined and got A-s. If you want to leave your grade to fate take Cox.

Comment:
This class was a total joke and as well intentioned as Professor Cox may be he is a terrible professor. His lectures lack any structure and were impossible to follow. The case book was broken up into incomprehensible chunks. I can't find a single good thing to say about this class... the poor reviews are very much deserved.

Prof. Cox is underrated. Not only is he genuine and passionate about teaching, he is not that hard to get. People who post poor reviews of Professor cox do so because they're bitter dullards. If you need a supplement to get through this course, then you shouldn't be in law school. Professor Cox is an excellent teacher and an asset to NESL.

I truly believe that everything Cox does inside and out of the classroom is intended to help the students do well and absorb the material. Sadly, he can't make the transition to teaching the material well despite his intentions. Watched more people play games/check sports scores/shop online than I listened to Cox and just learned on my own.

I'm sorry, but this teacher is an embarrassment to the NESL faculty. I truly enjoyed first year of law school except when it came to this class. I owe passing this class to Joseph Glannon and Richard Freer- current 1st years, you can find supplements on reserve in the library, start using them early on!

ugh. i wanted to like this guy so badly. but i dont think a day of class went by without wanting to stick a needle in my own eye. class is about what the law should be, not about the book, the procedure, or anything useful for 1st year students. begin teaching yourself civ pro early to survive. he's very nice. exams are fair but arbitrary.

Be prepared to teach yourself early on. Acing Civ Pro and Freer Cds are a must to get through this class. While Professor Cox is a nice man and has had a great legal career, his ability to transcend his knowledge of civ pro to his students is non-existent which becomes frustrating early on. If you can take another professor DO IT!

Class time more about what the law could/should be about, so you need to learn actual law yourself. Really helpful and willing to answer tons of questions to help ppl understand material. Tests are long and you need to know everything, but fair.

He is absolutely uselss. if you can understand him in class then thats a miracle. I've never seen such a collective confusion in a classroom before. He will even fully admit in the classroom that he's trying to confuse you! he will never in your life time give you a straight answer. He prob has my soul in a glass jar sitting on his desk. miserable
