I don't know why he has a good rating. There was no reason for econ1011 to be this difficult. Many students were lost throughout the semester, he goes super fast, you can't ask questions during class. He'll tell you to go to office hours or to the TAs. The exam questions are not like what you see in class.

Micro is kinda hard if you don't keep up with it. Suranovic is a good intro teacher and you definitely learn a lot. Sometimes though I felt as If he oversimplified some stuff and at the end of the semester I just stopped asking why something is the answer and just accepted it is what it was.

Grades made up of 4 graded problem sets for completion, 4 or 5 quizzes, 2 exams, and an algebra quiz at the start of the semester. He curves all assignments and the grade as a whole. Nice man, but quizzes and exams will pose questions and situations you are not ready for.

Suranovic was an amazing professor! There are a lot of problem sets and quizzes, but he drops low grades and curves EVERYTHING which helps a lot. The problem sets and practice tests he provided were also great practice for exams. You can get an A if you come to lecture, put the effort in and study. Also the TAs are a great resource!

This class was definitely hard for an intro class but informative. Homework every other week was helpful and similar to quizzes. It can be stressful because the midterm and final are 70%. TA is very helpful. Curves are good but I worked hard and ended up with a B. He puts the average at C+ and B-. Helpful to go back and watch recorded lectures.

Hes a really good guy! The class ran smoothly virtually, and he was super accessible with questions (as were the TAs). While some of the material was tricky, I genuinely liked him as a professor and would definitely take one of his classes again. The curves are nice. He also adds fun facts & real world examples into lectures to make them engaging.

If you're required to take this class but don't have a lot of interest in economics, definitely take Suranovic! The lectures weren't really interesting but if you're relatively smart and study for the quizzes you'll be fine. He grades on a good curve, and drops your worst quiz. Don't have to read the nightly lecture notes.

Awesome lecturer and love his incorporation of ethics into a boring subject like micro -- although this class grading is tough because the midterm is 30% and final is 40%, got an A- even though i got an A on the final, quizzes, and psets but a B on the midterm Tips: Don't just do the psets and be done, rewatch lectures and go to discussion section

tests & hw every other week. course goes through a ton of info, so it is hard to get really good at any single section. suranovic was sweet, but would only show already completed examples in lectures (probably bc it was online but idk). this course was really challenging--make sure you understand each concept before moving on to the next lecture.

Comment:
Of all the micro profs, Suranovic is the best. However, the course was extremely challenging. He curves everything which is nice, but at times quizzes were significantly more difficult than the material provided in lecture. Overall, Suranovic is clearly knowledgable and enthusiastic about micro econ, but the class was too hard for an intro class.

Econ is a tough course. The second half of the semester seems to be easier though. Online you can just watch his lectures later. Only graded on 3 out of 4 exams. Four out of six homeworkers. As well as the midterm and final. Everything is curved which is really nice. And online everything has been open-note.

Prof. Suranovic is the best Econ professor I've had throughout my time in GW. He makes the lecture really interesting, is very accessible, and gives you all the tools you need to learn and succeed in his class. Pd: try to pay attention to the whole lectures and do the homework even tho not all of them are graded because they will help you.

Prof. Suranovic is by far my favorite econ teacher in GW. Really interesting lectures, post PowerPoint and lecture capture online so you can go back and watch it. Have graded homework every chapter which is helpful for the quiz. Midterm and final are also not hard as long as you listen to his lecture and GO to TA section, it is really helpful.

Despite him being clearly organized and giving us practice tests, the real exams were always much harder than the practice tests. The midterm and final was extremely hard. The quizzes were similar to the homework. There was no textbook in this class but instead his lecture notes. The TA is the best resource in this class and helped a lot!

He is an excellent teacher!!! He tries as best as he can to make sure every student is doing well. Don't worry about quizzes and exams, if you do the problem sets and practice exams, you'll get a really high score. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Really the only choice for Micro. It was definitely not an easy A but if you put in the effort you'll do fine. He's a good professor overall, MUCH better than the other options. No one ever showed up to lecture but he actually has a great dry sense of humor. My TA was horrible but still did good just by lecture and the practice Suranovic gave.

prof suranovic is the best of the worst in the econ department. he is very knowledgeable on econ and accessible outside class but he will make you hard for your grade. bonus. all of his tests are curved... if they weren't i would've failed no lie so i would recommend him.

Best ECON1011 teacher, clear lectures but hard on grading. If u wanna be a slacker, do not take this class. Keep in mind his grading is based on the class mean and standard deviation and there is only 19% of students got an A in 2018.

Prof. Suranovic is by far the best econ professor at GW, at least for beginning econ. Econ is hard and it'll be hard no matter who you have. But Suranovic gives clear explanations and obviously cares a lot about what he teaches.
