Overall, I enjoyed the class. The entire semester is spent preparing and building up to 3 primary papers. The only other homework is smaller projects that actually really help with the final project. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Reeves was a great professor. However, you do have to work for your grade. The first half of the course you will have a short paper due every Friday morning. As the course goes on, you will have 3 larger papers that all count toward your final grade. You have to show up to class in order to pass. Go to office hours, she appreciates that.

ENGL102 was good with Reeves. She graded fairly based on set criteria. You use the Carolina Rhetoric but never the Everyday Writer. Heavy workload with the course, but the essays build on each other.

She does not stop talking, is very inflexible, a lot of work, picks favorites, grades kinda hard, and is rude. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. TAKING. AT ALL.

I would not recommend this professor. She taught two different courses at USC and I took both of them with her, huge regret. Did not learn much from either class. Her classes are ran like a book club and the only things discussed are opinions. She can come off rude when asking for help, don't think she is a bad person. I do think she is a bad prof.

I read some poor reviews on here and took her anyway: HUGE MISTAKE. She arbitrarily deducts points from assignments that meet every rubric criterion and won't tell you why. I'm graduating after this semester and I learned nothing from her other than the fact that some professors like to see students fail because it makes them feel smart.

She really cares about her students and gives helpful feedback on work. I took the YA fiction class with her, which is her specialty and it was a great opportunity to read contemporary literature. Word of advice: you gotta read or you'll have a bad time

She assigned more work than needed. For example, she would assign 20 poems and we only went over about 3 of them. There were times she acted like she didn't want to teach, like when she would have us watch movies for half the class that were not relevant to what we were talking about. Overall, she really could not teacher very well. Don't take her.

I'm a pretty good writer, A in Eng all thru HS. F in Reeves class. I challenged her opinions, once in class and in my compositions. Guess I should have known better, I was warned but didn't believe a college professor who seemed so competent would be so petty. If you can write well and are prepared to smile and agree you'll do fine.

Almost every class was a discussion about a political and social issue. If you don't share her left-wing opinions you could find it harder to succeed in her class (or just get annoyed). However, Dr. Reeves knows the subject she is teaching and if you already like reading and writing you will do well in her class.

About 4 or 5 papers to write, gives a rough draft grade and lets you rewrite for a new grade. I made an A on all papers, except for a B on one. Assigned readings which I never read but still made an A in the class. Final was pretty easy, she is nice and I recommend her class to anyone that does not hate writing.

Nice enough instructor, but she leads class to her personal conclusions & opinions. Class was a joke. Themes of British Lit ought to have been called Sex & Death. Everything was assumed to be supremely sexual. If you're willing to parrot whatever she says you're good, throw in "oedipal" & you're golden. I don't recommend taking her class.

Class isn't that bad. Every day you will have a reading that you should have read. I never read any of them and BS'ed during class. 4 main papers. This class has a ton of writing.Only buy the carolina reader, other books are useless.Essays are not bad, grades the rough draft and you can revise it for a better grade.Avoid if you don't like to write.

Pretty simple class in all. There are plenty of papers to keep you busy over the semester, but if you do them in advance, it's cake. She's a very nice woman with plenty of opinions to share if you get to know her. I talked a lot in class, so participation was nothing for me, but if you don't talk, start trying to. She has favorites, so talk a lot.

If you have to take 102, I would take it with Dr. Reeves. At first I didn't enjoy the class so much, but she has recently grown on me. 4 papers and a final is all it consists of basically. She definitely does play favorites so participate a lot in class. However, her comments on rough drafts are scarce and useless.

You have to take this class anyways, so I'd recommend taking it with Dr. Reeves. The class is basic reading and forming conclusions about what the author is trying to say. There is always a paper that needs to be written but it's an easy task if you work well in advance. None of that last minute cramming and you'll be fine.

She was one of the worst teachers I ever had. Instructions in this class were very vague. She definitely has her favorite so if you're not it, sorry. Do not express your opinion if it is different from her's. She will not accept it.
