STAY AWAY! Every 2-3 weeks he would disappear on some trip and would have random profs fill in for him. You need a HEAVY math background to make it anywhere in this course and his method of presenting things is less than clear if you are not perfectly solid on all things calculus. Exams and assignments are extremely hard.

the assignments were right out of the text. If you can use an index you can get 100%. He askes trick questions and you need to know your stuff but with minimal effort this can be a gpa boost. material presented clearly but with little enthusiam. you can tell its dumbed down a bit for the first years and non-majors from actual astronomy.

Assignments were difficult, but I don't know what the rest of these guys are talking about. I recieved an A- with minimal effort in this class. Class material is interesting but incredibly easy for a university class.

I was told this Class would be a GPA Booster, If a C is a GPA Booster then it is. His notes where horride, anwser you thought with no dought were right for assignments would be wrong. The Final exam for the class was very close to impossible I know 1 person out 15 that got a grade above 50.

Good course notes. The problem is the tests aren't based on them. Extremely difficult assignments and tests for an introductory course. Hand in an assignment that you're sure of at least 90% of the answers... only to get 60%. The wording of test questions is extremely misleading.

Terrible professor - no matter how hard you try, there will be no staying awake during this class. His voice is completely monotone and he doesn't know how to work the mic so it's loud enough for students to hear. Notes are terrpinle and unorganized. Avoid him, if you can.

Ya, I made the mistake of taking this as a GPA booster to. Only good part is he recently raised everyones letter grade by one. Major problem I had was he has a tendancy to test really minor detail and lecture was boring. Material is pretty intersting.

not very enthusiactic. Not very helpful. Not very clear. Doesn't seem to care about students, teaching, or working at the U of C. Only seems to care about his scientific career.

Worst Physics prof ever! He has no organization, repeats himself needlessly (so vectors have BOTH size AND direction?!?! No, it can't be!) and over complicates everything. Take this course with someone else, who can actually prepare you for the e
