We were her 1st class @FSCJ. You would not be bored at her class, U must read ahead! coz she asks ?'s n will call on u! Passionate teacher. U must know how to answer in essay form on all exams. 4 pop quiz, midterm, comprehensive final and some homework. Use of technology in class for research is allowed. She is not tech savvy. She likes law news!

Comment:

I absolutely love her. She is so entertaining in class and tells real life stories from her career to help you remember the concepts. She is also very helpful outside of class and seems to really love teaching. I would bend over backwards to take her class again.

Comment:

Shorstein is an incredibly interesting person, and I adore her as a person. However, the class is a hot mess. Class discussions get way off track, and her responses to questions confuse everyone that listens. Best advice: read the "Understanding Property Law" supplement and do not submit to the temptation of asking a question in class.

She was mostly clear on the things she taught with the exception of some of the more detailed/complex mortgage issues. She goes at a slow pace. Instead of a book, she made us buy this binder full of forms. We barely touched it all semester. Cases are assigned alphabetically and you have to get them off of Westlaw/Lexis. Final was hard & had errors.

easily taken off track, but she takes the time to break it down for you. the entire semester feels slow, but when you look back, you see that you understand things much better than you would have. very knowledgeable in her field, and very accepting of student comments in class.

A true teacher. Many people that teach in law schools seem to lack training in the basics of how to teach so that students learn. Prof. S. soes not have that problem. If you are ready to learn, you will, and it will be a good time.

Great professor will keep you interested throughout the whole semester. You must pay attention, and read, but she makes the borring interesting. Always lends a helping hand, and is a bright spot in the otherwise dull Law School experience.

Last semester she was great. In Prop. II, however, we've slowed down to a snail's pace. This semester her lectures seem disjointed. She'll drive you crazy if you like structure. Don't expect a syllabus. She's quite funny and helpful outside of class - she really wants you to succed. Don't be late to class!!!

absolutely adorable...she is a credit to the entire institution. Her pedagogical approach (though wasted on many) was inspirational...she taught us zoning and property value through computer use zones...as far as I'm concerned she is BRILLIANT!!

She is a great teacher. She will do study groups and explain difficult topics for as long a needed in order for the class to do well. Her exams are not easy, but they are fair. She is also a hardcore liberal, and although she makes this very clear with her fact patterms and hypos, she is never insulting to anyone else's poliical beliefs.
