For the love of god do not take Modern Literature, it is boring af and doesn't discuss modern lit at all. She spends the entire semester talking about colonialism, India, and the history of cities. Easy enough class but every day really sucked, her lectures just felt never ending.

Aparna is a very smart woman who has a serious passion for the material she teaches. If you're interested in the topic of her course, you will like it. Global Theatre is the seminar I took, and I spaced out a lot during her lectures. Claims it's a "discussion-based" class, but a lot of it is just listening to her speak. Interesting plays though.

Pretty sweet teach. Pretty easy course as long as you read the plays and listen in lecture a little bit.

Dr. Dharwadker is one of the best professors I've ever had (and this is my 3rd school (arguably 5th))! She is very knowledgable, well-spoken, fair at grading, impartial to students, available for help and great at leading class discussions. She tailors the class to the students, is open and encourages all. I recommend any of her classes to anyone.

She is an amazing professor. The class I took with her happened to have a low enrollment of only 8 or 9 girls so the class took on a bit of a 'book club' feel. I found every class engaging and Dr. D did a wonderful job of hearing out and understanding everyone's views and taking them into consideration. Grading is tough but absolutely fair.

The class is not too difficult, but it's discussion heavy. Dr. Dharwadker is a great professor and the subject matter is interesting. This class really had an impact on the way I view theatre.

I really enjoyed the class. The teacher was very knowledgable, has studied theater for a long time and has seen many plays. I thought she was very clear about what she wanted, what we should study and how. The class was very easy in my opinion. READ/WRITE do well

Dr. Dharwadker is one of the most knowledgeable professors I've encountered on campus. Still, she is very open to student input and encouraged us to make our own discoveries. Her standards are clear & she is obviously passionate about the subject matter. I was not expecting to like this course, but it is now my favorite theatre lit course I've had

Dr. Dharwadker is one of the best professors I've had at UW-Madison! She knows her field and makes you interested in it, too. Her assignments are both reasonable and engaging. Plus, she grades like a champ!

I was not expecting to enjoy this class as much as I did. Contemporary World Thtr was not only challenging but The professor inspired me to work hard and do well. She structured her class with a complete relevant history of the region from which the play we were reading came from. Her knowledge of the texts is impressive and her passion inspiring.

Made it through having not purchased any course materials. Interesting subject matter. She is NOT hard to understand. Straight forward class. Projects are fun. High standards (but fair and transparant) for papers. Good supplement for Theatre major; non-traditional (non-western) literature is interesting.

While she knows a lot, lecture is pretty boring b/c she uses no powerpoint or visuals. Inconsistent grading, but not too hard to get an A. Heavy accent can be difficult to understand.

I would figure out a way to take a course with ANY other professor. Her exams take much longer than the time that she allows for them and she expects that you have perfect grammar on the blue book. If you can't write incredibly fast and with perfect grammar your grade is going to suffer.

Worst teacher I have ever had. Complete and total inability to connect with the students; expects us to know more than we do coming in, and wastes time explaining things we DO know. Exams & papers were inconsistent and unhelpfully graded.
