People on here say his lectures are interesting... I found them EXTREMELY boring. I'm guessing the people who say his lectures aren't boring are history lovers. I personally am not and was taking this class to fulfill one of the gen ed req. I couldn't stand just sitting in his class and listing to his voice go on and on

I found his tests hard... I made good grades on all his other assignments except for his tests. I like the fact that he leads discussion though. He makes discussion bearable. Only take his class if you're interested in history or will give up 3-5 hours studying for his tests, because I sure didn't and made a bad grade in his class

Dr. Pardue is a great professor. He made history interesting and I am not a history person at all. The tests are pretty simple. Go to lecture, or you will fail. Not mandatory though. Discussion is mandatory and you have to talk to get credit for being there. Reasonable teacher. He's pretty good looking, too.

Grades based off of vague guidelines and inconsistently. Learn nothing in discussion but if you skip he takes two points off your final grade. People say he's good on here but he's really not. I'll have a good grade but he could be much better

Pardue is one chill guy. He has some way of keeping the material interesting and is a really good teacher. While lecture is not mandatory, he doesn't post any slides or study guides so I had to completely rely on all of my notes. You need the textbooks, and you could probably get by with only buying one of the books fo the book review. Take him.

Dr. Pardue is an awesome professor! He lectures for the entire 50 minutes, but keeps it interesting to where you don't even realize it. He leads discussions which is a lot better than a TA. He gets to know your name. The class consists of 2 tests and a final non-cum, 3 map quizzes, a 5 page paper, and 3 timelines. Not hard to pass the class.

He is a really nice guy but will not help you out at all when it comes to the class. I would maybe try to find someone else but he is definitely not the worst

One of the best professors I've had at UT. Not an easy class, but not too difficult as long as you go lecture. He emphasizes every key term that will be included in exams and the few other assignments throughout the semester are really not hard but more time consuming. Take the time to study and you will really enjoy his class.

This class is not easy by any means. It takes a lot of reading and studying to get a good grade. Lecture is not mandatory, but discussion is. He is really good at lecturing, but can be vague at what he wants for timelines and papers. Rarely used to the book.

Dr. Pardue is a great teacher, very clear & presents the material as if its a natural conversation. The class held my attention the whole time & expanded my knowledge through this class. My only complaint is his grading of attendance/participation where I felt it was unfair. He also grades the book reviews much harder than the rest. Take Pardue!

If you have Pardue, you better come to class and take notes. They will help you on your test. This is not an easy course if you don't like history but he is pretty straight-forward and his lectures were not terribly boring. The only complaint I have with him is 15 points off on my participation grade. He's not a bad lecturer. Grades tough though.

Lecture can be slightly boring but he does a good job trying to avoid that. Tough grader on papers, tests are difficult averages in the 70s. Hard to make an A in the class overall

Dr. Pardue is a very helpful when you have questions. He is very straight forward and tries his best to make his lectures interesting. I very much was pleased with the class and the grade I received. His class was not like all the history horror stories you will here.

The class is tough due to the large amount of reading and the dry nature of much of the material. He does a good job of making it more interesting during lectures. We had to do 3 short book reports that we simple but a little tough due to a short maximum length. Tests were fair but the time constraints made them much more difficult.

I was expecting a terrible time in this class. Going in, Mr. Pardue had a terrible rating but I'm not quite sure why. He is very straight forward with what he expects from his students. His tests are almost always verbatim from his lecture notes. You have to attend lecture, as he doesnt post his notes online, but it's not that bad.
