Comment:

Dr. Harbourne is a good professor. The material in Calc 2 is very difficult, but he does his best to make it simple. That being said, the test questions are a lot harder than the examples he does in class. Do the online homework and workbook problems as those are similar to the tests. He posts previous exams on canvas, and they are usually similar!

Comment:

I always found his lectures super helpful, but the online homework was hard. He gives you unlimited attempts though, so it never hurt my grade. My class didn't do quizzes, but we did clicker points in class -- most of the questions he would give you the answer before he closed the questions. The grading criteria is clearly outlined in the syllabus.

Professor Harbourne is a great, caring professor. He would always teach us the concepts and then do a basic example that could be applied to other problems. The homework was difficult, but the quizzes were usually very easy and straightforward. Friends with other professors were jealous of how much easier our quizzes were. Emails back insanely fast

He's a fine instructor. I like how he applied the course material to real life situations. The lectures were pretty short though and always seemed very basic, meaning that if you have a bad recitation instructor you're gonna have a bad time.

He is always willing to help you if you go in during his office hours. Very passionate about his work and tries to make connections with you. He drops the lowest the lowest 4 quiz grades and gives you unlimited attempts on the online homework (which is required). He enjoys when you are verbal in class with discussion. He is a great professor.

He's so passionate about math it made lectures way more fun!! He's also really helpful outside of class, answers to emails within the same day, never judges you for not understanding, Exams and Quizzes are really simple in comparison to homework but the homework has unlimited attempts, he drops lowest quiz grades (4 i think) and wants u to pass

He did a pretty good job of teaching tough topics. He is really easy to work with and will meet with you outside of class if you need help. Every now and then he likes to tell stories of famous mathematicians and it's entertaining. Definitely a solid professor.

I found his way of explaining things somewhat confusing. He tries to simplify things too much, and often goes on long tangents when someone has a question. He definitely wants his students to learn the material well. Be careful of the online homework it's super easy to forget about it, and can take longer than you expect.

His way of explaining things are not that clear. The book will really help in this course. The online homework are easy to forget, he does not set all homework to due at specific time. His tests are not that hard.

Awesome Professor. Wants you to learn and do well. Nice guy and very approachable. First exams aren't bad but they get tougher later in the semester. Do the bookwork; It's very helpful. Set phone reminders for the online homework (easy to forget). Ask questions when you don't understand. He's good at answering and it'll help everyone.

I was really hesitant taking this class coming into my freshman year, but Professor Harbourne was really helpful and made class bearable. He was just a genuine, sweet guy and you could really tell he wanted all of his students to make the best grade possible and really understand the material. I would absolutely recommend this professor!

If you did well during high school math, this class shouldn't be too difficult. He likes to ask you to pick a variable, then decides his own random variable.
