Prof. Stempel was okay. 810 quizzes and discussions are graded. You really have to read to do well on quizzes. some documentaries were fun- some were boring. Interesting class.

All lectures, readings, and videos assigned are posted online. The class isn't hard just a lot of reading. He assigns about 2 lectures and 2 or 3 readings along with a film each week (usually an hour or more long). Discussion board (350 words) and quiz (10 multiple choice) for the assignment. Drops 2 lowest quizzes and discussions.

If you are a student like me who has too much on their plate, then avoid taking this course. Not an easy A. I would've passed this course, but I am a busy bee as is. There is TOO MUCH READING! His requirements are pretty straight forward. He helped me when there was a black board error while taking a quiz. Interesting reading material though.

Social theory: having background knowledge on sociologists like Marx, Durkheim, and Weber will help. He is direct and expects you to creatively use the concepts in modern times through modern books. The reading is hard, but try to relate and ask questions. I really related to his teaching, so thumbs up!

He is a great teacher, explains things thoroughly and will explain it again for you. He makes the material interesting using examples from current events. He is definitely a liberal but does not shove it down your throat too much. The work for his class was pretty easy and the tests were as well. Just do the reading and ask ?'s.

I took Sociology of the Family. The class is interesting because it is relatable. The Professor is very knowledgable and fair about grading. All course material was available online. If students do the reading than assignments are easy. Its important to come to class because some of his lecture is on the midterm and final. Overall, great course.

I took Sociological Theory. Most of the course we discussed Marx, if you understand Marx concept then it would be easy but for me it was a little difficult. The interesting stuff happens at the ending of the quarter and is more relatable. I would suggest taking this professor because he is very fair with grading and is always will to help students.

I loved this class and always looked forward to going. He is a good lecturer and the reading selections were eye-opening. It is very possible to get an A if you stay on top of the readings and come to class regularly. This is one of the best classes I have taken at CSUEB.

Marriage/Sex class is very fun! I love going to this class because he always lectures about something interesting. He is very attractive for an older guy. 1 blackboard post a week on the reading and the midterm was all multiple choice (not hard as long as you pay attention in class). AWESOME TEACHER!!! You should take him! DO IT!

Class was a little boring sometimes, but usually was interesting. Showed some some videos, one being a full blown****o. I guess he related it back to class but I think it was more funny than anything else to show that. Writing 1 post a week and 2 exams (midterm/final). Pretty fair and helpful.
