I had Charles Scott in person the fall of 2018 and man what a great guy. He was very engaging and made the lectures fun. He did a great job emphasizing what was important to know for Quizzes and exams. Take my word for it, hes an awesome professor.

Charles was a good teacher but, I was not a fan of this class. Charles prerecorded some lectures and assigned readings every week, which we would then discuss them in class. There were three group papers and no clear grading scheme which made it hard to know what exactly he wanted from our assignments.

Online Lecture, I was disappointed with online Commerce with Charles. Charles is an amazing prof but the teaching style just wasn't fun compared to being in class. Discussion was difficult as you're put on the spot. I really wished that we could see him talking us through the lessons with a live cam and a chalk board.

My favourite professor ever. Marks fairly and is there for his students. Makes lectures engaging and entertaining. Make sure to study mind maps provided. Would absolutely take him again.

Charles is wonderful for this class. Recommend the textbook to expand on his concepts for exam marks. Big semester long group project you submit in parts and gives great feedback on what you are doing. Recommended to make extra time to meet with him about projects. Really engaging and makes it modern and interesting.

Charles really works hard to drive home the key concepts. If you grasp that and put a good deal of thought into explaining your reasoning, you will get a good grade. If you aren't sure about your understanding, go by his office hours - he's really great to talk to.

He is a super engaging speaker, and makes attending lectures enjoyable. If you take the once-a-week night classes (like I did) the weekly quizzes might be a bit tough but overall pretty good!

Charles was great in the fall semester! The class was very well organized, but he was pretty strict on marking for assignments. Wish our group did better! Otherwise very great instructor!

A professor having a good relationship with their students is fundamental in order for them to learn. Having a friendly personality can help achieve this, usually through the use of humor. However, this professor goes so far with his "humor" that it becomes grating, patronizing, and overall irritating and takes away from the learning.

He demonstrates a poor skill in time management with how he teaches his students. If the class description says that it will only last two hours, then it should only be two hours, not another 50 minutes. Furthermore he needs to refrain from using multiple examples for a single concept and goes off track from what is actually relevant to the course.

Charles Scott was my favourite prof this semester. He marks fairly, and if you put in the time, Comm 100 is not too bad of a course. I enjoyed his lectures a lot. Charles is hilarious and definitely knows what he's talking about!

Doesn't believe in multiple choice, on quizzes or exams. Uses weekly mindmaps that only list main topics. You MUST be in class to take notes. Rarely any slides. Caring prof. Suggests study groups to help with understanding of concepts. You MUST understand concepts fully. Memorizing definitions/lists is useless. Allowed me to record lectures.

Definitely one of my favorite professors I've had. He's tough, but marks fairly. His lectures are tinged with a bit of personal anecdote, but just enough to add entertainment value to an otherwise begrudgingly boring subject.

Charles is one of the few Professors at UNBC that sounds like he knows what the hell he's talking about. I'm a self professed GPA questing gladiator... and his marking consistency drove me insane. Lots of papers -- marked suuuuper hard. Exams were straight memorization of buzz words and knowing when to use them, this alone saved me.

Charles keeps lectures interesting and overall a pretty easy course. Quizzes are every week so it keeps you on top of things, be sure to read the articles and reflect on them. Overall good teacher, very funny entertaining lectures, relates a lot of the content to real world situations. Would recommend for all UNBC to take this course!

Charles is an incredible professor/lecturer. The only time I've actually enjoyed (let alone been able to stand) a 3 hour lecture is with this man. Entertaining, knowledgeable, and practical; he doesn't just reiterate what a textbook says, he incorporates his experiences and business sense into the course. A lot of respect for Charles - a great man.

One of the few Profs I actually WANTED to go to class for. He will make you do allot of work that helps build real life communication skills. He really helps open your eye to the real world and forces you to go talk to business and really push you out of your comfort zone. If you not willing to talk to strangers and work hard drop the class.

Ridiculous amount of group work. Also, I've never met a man who is as self-obsessed and arrogant as him. If you want to spend 80% of the lecture hearing about his wonderful business adventures and his wonderful self, then take a class with him. If you want to learn anything, try to pick a different professor.

Charles is an amazing instructor. Uses great real-world examples to illustrate points. Humour and video clips to augment his message. There is some ego there, but its not a major issue. Would HAPPILY take the rest of my courses with Charles if I could. Hands down one of the top 2-3 instructors I've had the pleasure of being taught by.
