Comment:

Great teacher. Only downsides are that she's picky about the work, goes a little fast, and has the hw & quizzes online. Other than that she explains the concepts clearly, answers any questions based on what you didn't get, and provides SI sessions. The SI sessions are extremely helpful. The tutor is very friendly, patient, and a very good teacher.

Uses question off her reviews for the exams. Her class comes with S.I. which I recommend going to if you don't fully understand the work. Homework is done online (mymathlab). Calculators are allowed in her class. Didn't have to buy the text for math 20. She is picky about showing your work. I definitely plan on taking her again for math 40.

I recommend Ms. Gibby very strongly. She is really, really fair and is genuinely interested in the students doing well. I can't say she made me a fan of math, but I failed it last time I took it and this time I got an A because her class is set up so that if you do the work, you do well. It's a LOT of work, but that's math for you.

Cheryl Gibby is outstanding! Yeah she's a little monotone, but she has a heart of gold and wants her students to do well and puts a ton of effort into making sure you understand the material. She's not easy but she's very fair. Tests are a lot easier than the HW (she prepares you) so if you do the HW you'll be fine. Take her class she's very solid.

I LOVE professor Gibby. It's beyond me how she's only rated a 3.4 - people must really want a free ride. Mymathlab is BRILLIANT and CRYSTAL CLEAR as well. She's not easy, but SHE'LL PREPARE YOU TO TAKE YOUR TRANSFERABLE MATH CLASS (which is why you're taking math 20/40). Do you want to go to a UC/CSU? Take her, put the effort in, and pass it.

I like this teacher a LOT. It is a lot of work, definitely. You need it if you really want to learn the material, though. The 80 question exam reviews she gives out before each exam are the key to the whole class. If you can master those, you're golden (heh). You'll be so proud of yourself when you complete the course!

very monotone voice.Very hard with grading and the reviews before the tests are 80+questions.Math is difficult for me she did not make it any easier.Pick a different teacher for Math 20..

It wasn't fun having to sit through this class for an hour and 50 minutes at 7 AM. If you dislike math as much as I do, try taking it at a later time AT LEAST because Professor Gibby's voice does get a bit tedious after a while. Assuming that you have more drive to listen to her lectures than I did, though, you'll learn a lot. She's a good teacher.

She is an awesome teacher! People here arent giving her credit probably because they failed her class, but she maps out all her lessons to a "T" and gives u all the tools to pass. My only complaint is a little much HW and the reviews are long (80q.) but its for ur own good to learn the material. Just don't be lazy and do the work and u'll get an A.

AWESOME TEACHER! Very lenient and helpful. I aced the final with a 94% and she made my 89% overall grade into an A. So just do all the work and you will do good. If not then you will fail. Simple. She doesn't assign a lot of work for her health, it's for your benefit. So do it!

i'm reading these reviews and wondering why are people crying on here? boo hoo??? dude this class isnt that hard. i guess it depends on how you mesh with the teacher. and yeah itll help if you know some algebra. and im confused about the monotone part. mr clear eye guy is monotone NOT mrs gibby.

She's helpful. Willing to answer questions. She wants you understand. She encourages you to go to S.I. if you don't have a class during its session, especially if you don't understand. It really helps you get more clarification. Do the hw/quizzes. Its not too much, just the lessons that were taught in class. Do the study guides.

Overall she is a great teacher that cares about her students. She does assign a lot of homework which uses my math lab. She gives a golden review for every test. Do the golden review and know how to do those problems and you'll get an A on the test.

Boring teacher worst class ever. waste of money and time. she wants everything her way and if u dnt.. ur test ppr will be BLEEDING an F+ but hey F is for FANTASTIC no? and she uses to many colors on her high tech comp. HW is worth nothing Quizes 5ish% and the studie guides aren't even worth much. Basically w.e. u get on the tests is ur grade.

She is a nice teacher. Glad to answer any questions. BUT she is very boring and has a very mono toned voice which makes it even harder to understand what shes explaining. She thinks everyone gets it and always points out the ppl who are failing. She'll point em out lik "everyone is doing great but im concerned about two or three ppl in this class."

Online homework DOESNT even COUNT so its pretty pointless to do.ONLY TEST,ATTENDANCE and Quizes count Study guides with 100 Questions are worth 3% I REALLY HATED ONLINE QUIZES AND TEST ESPECIALLY HWK it was a drag!

Its quite a struggle you have to put ALOT of effort into your work.I a passion for math but when I went into her class she seems to do it the LONG way or her ways when there are simple ways to do it. As I retook math 141 with Mr.V my grade improved tremendously! Professor Gibby is just confusing! I WOULDN't recommend.

Awesome teacher, my second time taking her for different classes. She does assign a lot of work but it is necessary to understand the material. Grades extremely fairly and even gives partial points. My course load is 16 units and I still managed to get a B+ with little effort, and I m not good at math. Take her if you're lucky enough to get her.
