Comment:
Professor Baumer will make you love political philosophy; there is an author for anyone to enjoy in Gov 100. Although the readings can be lengthy, his class is very chill and he is a relatively easy grader. Our discussions were interesting because we connected theories from 60-2000 years ago to modern issues. The papers are a little too broad.

His lecturing style was not really engaging, the assignments were dull, and he sounded really misinformed in terms of current issues.

Really easy class in terms of coursework, only two essays and a final exam, but he tells you exactly what you need to read for the final weeks in advance. There are a lot of readings, but they're not at all necessary if you follow along in class and take decent notes. The handouts are really helpful for the essays and the papers are self-lead.

I barely went to any of his classes. The ones I did go to, I basically slept through. I didn't even do the bare minimum (which was the readings), and I did well in the course because of the GOV crash course videos on YouTube. There are two 10 page papers, but they're kinda easy. Strongly recommend for anyone with a heavy course load. Easy A.

It was a really chill class. I honestly didn't go to half of them because I knew everything he was lecturing about but his assignments were clear and there were only 3 of them for the whole semester. (2 10 page papers and a super easy final exam on one topic). It made me decide I was interested in government and wanted to take more classes in gov.

He is a really nice professor but theres just so much work you need to do! His readings are crazy long and sometimes, you just can't do it. Class is really long and his feedback on my paper was alright except he took points off for some use of vocabulary. I still don't really know what he wants. He is a sweet guy and will help but just be prepared.

I took this class cos I wanted to have a basic understanding abt American Government. I relied mostly on textbook and skipped the lectures. However this also has resulted in not learning as much as my peers who read the material and attended class and asked questions. This is the kind of class in which the more effort you put the more you learn.

Was wonderful during lectures and was often very clear on questions and even elaborated with great examples, even if some people found him boring. Even better when you go to his office to ask questions. He is understanding when you become ill or need an extension. Would recommend him to anyone interested in American Gov.

Hard to understand, did not speak clearly. Lectures had no direction. Content in lectures was vague. Class was a combination of government and environmental science, learned a lot of science but barely any policy. Lectures don't help much - you're better off reading the textbook.

Baumer is brilliant and wonderful. He's always clear and willing to help and/or clarify. Even in a larger class he will give you personal attention via smaller discussions and one-on-one meetings when you have assignments. Definitely recommend.

He's adorable, a smart man, he knows your name and doesn't mind being interrupted (which is good unless you have a few that girls in your class) I would recommend him because you will learn something, but it won't be a terribly hard class. Literally 3 assignments-- 2 papers and a final. I'm in love with him!

Prof. Baumer is absolutely fabulous. He is really laid back and grades assignments fairly. This class is interesting but not too stressful. If I had taken one of his classes as a first year, I would have definitely been a government major.
