Terrible professor!!! I have never been so disrespected by someone who is supposed to be a teacher. His 2 hour long rambles of lecture have no content. He just likes hearing himself talk. If you have a different opinion than he does just keep your mouth shut. If you dont, hell just interrupt you to tell you that youre wrong.

Ricky is very disrespectful towards his students, and always says that your opinion is wrong. He interrupts students when they try and speak. Would never take one of his classes again. Honestly the worst teacher Ive ever had.

He is one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. At times, he is not very clear about information you need to know for tests, and his grading is all over the place. I would not recommend taking him, unless you absolutely need to take his class like I did.

Very intelligent man, to the point you need a dictionary to look up just the words in the questions on his tests. If students were late or didn't show up he would call them. Very funny but hard not to nod off at times. Would take another class from him even so.

Not many test but you have to read a lot. He doesn't explain things very well and is quite confusing. Be prepared for group work and discussion. Also your opinion is often questioned and not really wanted. You just need to repeat back what his thoughts are to get a good grade.

If you are looking for an easy class do not, I repeat DO NOT take Dr. R.J. Ray. He uses a very diverse vocabulary and talks around the point as most Philosophy professors do. The reading is long, boring, and leaves you thinking what did I just read. This was the hardest elective class I have taken and would advise taking humanities I! Terrible!

Comment:
First of all, Values and Society should not be the title of a Philosophy class. Prof. Ray expected far too much when he gave very little. His lectures were a bunch of "philosophical" thoughts thrown together into something that he thought made sense. If you didn't agree with him then you were wrong, and that's that. Avoid this class if you can.

Dr.Ray is not a typical community college professor. He challenges everything that you thought you knew. He is critical, analytical and objective. If you know what those words mean, then dont take this class. If you are mot extremely strong in your beliefs then he can easily make you question what you stand for and believe in. No phones, no excuses

He's a humorous man who likes to make puns, but this class was overwhelming to me. Even if I read what I was supposed to, I still didn't understand. I was confused the majority of the class and ended up doodling because I couldn't focus. Although I had no interest, some people were interested so you never know until you try. BTW lots of thinking!

Comment:
PHIL 1030 was a disappointment, with Dr. Ray as the teaching professor. He, unfortunately, cannot clearly convey fundamental philosophical principles. He speaks rhetorically with little substance. His approachability is low, and he is unlikely to call on students in class that challenge his worldview. Dr. Ray was a disappointment.

R.J Ray. Smart man, awful teacher. He knows what he is talking about, large vocab, but expects to much, boring, and doesn't interpret well. I would never take a class with him again! Nice man just not a great teacher.
