Disappointing class! Weekly discussions, posts must be long & must use a ton of content from readings. You have to respond to 5 or more posts or get points knocked off, she is a TOUGH grader. She assigns the Hamilton Sound Track/Mixtape weekly, final project based off listen to this. I hated it, not interesting. Quizzes a big part of your grade!

This professor cops an attitude with students when she is in a bad mood. She seems to be on a power trip! If you do not agree with her point of view, you better pretend that you do!

Very informative class. There is a lot of reading & documentary watching, but it's all interesting. Extra credit opportunities. You are guaranteed to learn a lot in this class. It is time consuming but worth it. I wish she taught all of my classes. She may not be the easiest but reasonable, and we are here to learn, right? Highly recommended!

By far, one of the better professors I have had. Her curriculum is layered thoroughly and well thought out. A lot of reading but truly valuable content. Lesson plans are laid out on Canvas and she is quick to respond if you need help. If you need a humanities course, this one is a must. - Civil Rights Movement

Very motivating! and very organized! she laid out all of our assignments from the get go, so there was never a question on what we had to work on. I did have a problem on her "due dates" for essays. they were different from what was on canvas, because she requires a peer review.

Great at motivating students and telling you what she wants before and after you submit an assignment. You will have hours of reading every week and a discussion forum that is due so expect more than 8 hours of homework every week for online, sometimes up to 14. Her projects are difficult but if you put in 100% you can do excellent.

Mrs. Stevens is a very intelligent teacher but if you e-mail her be prepared for massive amounts of passive aggressive comments. She gives at least three readings a night and for my class we had to read a 265 page book that she gave us a one day notice to buy. Her classes have a large focus on the civil rights movement because thats her specialty.

Professor Stevens is absolutely amazing! She has a very specific agenda for the quarter, but it makes the quarter run so very smoothly. Her topics and assignments are actually interesting and really make you think. If you're in to anything medical related, take this class. Everything is based off a couple historical medical events. Loved her class!

Professor Stevens definitely helped me realize my potential as a student and for that I will be forever grateful. Don't expect to get an easy A in her classes but if you put forth the effort her class is very fulfilling. Highly recommended if your looking to actually gain something from the curriculum. Show up and do the work and you will pass.

Beth is a great teacher. Once you take one class you want to take all of her classes. She teaches some of the most important and interesting classes at Pierce College. You will actually leave this class and take away things you will remember for the rest of your life. Just do the readings every night and bring a point or two and you will be golden.

There needs to be more class like this! Learning about the Civil Rights Movement was so eye opening. If you come to class daily and bring two points from the reading the night before you will get through this class fine! Clear feedback on all assignments, she gives you feedback in 3 different places. She is funny and really cares about her students

The personality on her is entertaining. You learn something new everyday. Gives clarity on any question when asked, except when you are too afraid to ask, she's not a mind reader!

I took her online class and it was a lot of work but totally do-able. The assigned book for the quarter was a great read which made the class pretty fun. If I didn't completely understand something I would email her and she was extremely helpful, even with giving feedback on a thesis. I'm glad I took it online and recommend it.

There was lots of reading and papers to write, but very manageable. I work full time and have little ones at home and was able to keep up on the reading and writing. I loved the reading that was assigned and there was a lot of student involvement that proved to be very helpful. I enjoyed this instructor very much.

While she might be a good teacher, she is not one for online. She's not clear in what she wants, and grades EXTREMELY hard. You defiantly have to work for your grade. I was at the TOP of my class, like very first, and I only got a 2.3; so I would avoid her online class. I heard she's okay in class.
