I absolutely love Dr. Toro as a person, but he was the hardest professor I have ever taken. I am a math major, not a science major, yet he expected everyone to know physics. He only grades you off of 3 exams, and the exams are not on topics that were covered in class.

I took AP calculus before, but I had no idea what math professor Toro was teaching. I had to withdraw from the class before I failed out... and I wasn't the only one who had to do this. This withdraw has ruined my course track... Professor Toro is so sweet, funny, and caring, but in my opinion, he can't teach :(

I loved Dr. Toro. I hate math but Dr. Toro managed to make it so interesting and it started to make sense. He is so funny and really wants you to succeed. I hope I dont have to take math again but if I do it will only be with him.

I strongly don't recommend this class. He does not thoroughly explain the concepts enough to complete all of the homework and does not do in-class examples while lecturing. I felt like I was teaching myself, and the book was not always very clear. If you do take this class, doing all the homework is vital. It is far from an easy class.

Very nice man who genuinely cares about his students but it's hard to follow him at times. He gets upset when people do not participate or skip class. I did horrible in his class partly because the grade is based on three tests and a final. Don't take his class if math is not your thing, it won't be easy. I regret not going to his office hours.

Dr. Toro is an amazing person but unless you are naturally good at math, the class is HARD. He doesnt offer any extra credit and your entire grade is comprised of 3 tests and the final, all weighted equally. If you are nice to him, he is nice to you. I made a decent grade because I went to tutoring and office hours all the time.

He is an awful professor. He teaches in both english and spanish making it hard to understand him. I was in a class of 6 people and 4 failed. No compassion and expected you to understand him. I will never take a class by this man again.

He doesn't give extra credit, which kind of sucks, but it's alright. Make sure you show your work on the tests; he won't give credit to answers where you don't show your work, even if it's correct. He thoroughly goes over answers to questions, which can feel annoying, but it's helpful if you're lost. He genuinely cares about his students.

He's a nice guy but there are only 3 exams and they don't cover anything you do in class. You basically have to read the whole book to maybe do well on the exam. He takes attendance and is really strict about phones/laptops. No extra credit and is not clear on anything. Don't take him!

Dr. Toro definitely knows his calculus very well, but he is not very good at teaching it to students. He does have a thick accent and can sometimes be hard to understand, but he is fluent in English. Students are expected to watch him solve problems on the board and understand it that way; he rarely goes in depth and he moves quickly.

Dr. Toro is a decent professor. He makes minor mistakes that would throw many off first time calc students. we would spend entire classes going over questions from the homework, but he would answer as many as he could and encouraged visiting his office hours. tests are only 10 ?s and there are only 4 tests/sem, those are your only 4 grades.

Amazing teacher. Goes over each topic and explains everything you need to know. His accent is easily understandable. He is probably one of the best teachers I've had at UT so far. As long as you pay attention in class and review a few homework questions from each section before the tests, it's incredibly easy to get all A's.

He was by far the worst teacher i have ever had at UT. He speaks in both english and spanish during his lecture which makes it hard to learn. He doesnt care about his students, unless you are a decent looking girl. i would drop out of college before i ever took a class with him again!

At first I thought he was funny, but his quirky personality soon got on everybody's nerves. He is hard to understand because he has an accent and he makes up words. He brings politics into math and I didn't appreciate that. God help you if you take this class.
