Comment:

Whenever I asked him questions, he would always have a smart remark and was not helpful. He barely lectured, it was mostly lab work. Lab exams were impossible. Almost all exam questions were open response and you were responsible for making graphs. He also offers no extra quiz points like most professors. Avoid this professor at all costs.

Comment:

Dr. Smith is a good guy, but he initially comes off a little abrasive. The entire semester pretty much consisted of him lecturing and giving a test once a month. If you don't take good notes and read the textbook, you'll fail. However, he is willing to help if you're just generally struggling with the material itself.

I took Dr. Smith for BIO171L. He makes you work for a good grade, but he always makes sure you are equipped with that you need to do well during lab. He's also got a great sense of humor and made lab fun. I would recommend him if you are someone who's willing to put in effort.

Very few grades for the course. You A quiz once a week (or so), 3 exams & the final, and a handful of assignments so if you don't do well on one you are kind of thrown off balance. For my class, he did replace the lowest exam with the final if you did better on it through. His lectures are terrible as he goes very quick, hard to take good notes.

Comment:

Knowledgeable in bio and has a great sense of humor, but he grades ridiculously on tests. He counts off a lot of points for minor things, and everything has to be worded exactly as he would have or else expect to get a bad grade. Because of this, its nearly impossible to do well, and I would highly recommend taking another lab instructor.

He knows what he is talking about, and he has okay humor. However, very unfair when grading tests. Answers have to be in his exact words basically. Counts off big points for small things. If you can get another lab professor then do it.

If you miss a class there might be a chance you miss a pop quiz. Had about 2 homework assignments multiple pop quizzes and four tests. If you hate tests or are bad at them i do NOT recommend this class. He goes very fast through the chapters so you have to go back and read it on your own. Make sure you take good notes for the pop quizzes.

In lab Dr. Smith semi explained things and then when you asked if he would clarify he made rude remarks. He grades extremely hard on his tests and lab reports. The main reason I passed was due to the graduate assistant. I would recommend getting practically anyone else if you can but if you can't all I can say is good luck.

Dr. Smith was a good professor. He explained things but didn't talk too much so you had time to finish the experiments. All his quizzes are scan tron and are fairly easy. The atmosphere of the classroom was really light and easy going.

I absolutely hated this class!He was rude and if he knows you're not a bio major then you're screwed!Everything is in the book but he goes so fast in his powerpoints that u have to reread everything 2 or 3 times. He doesn't really take the time to go over anything. His tests suck! It could be more than 1 answer but u better choose the 1 he wants

Comment:

For 155 he is super easy! Take good notes and skim through the chapters and you should be good. For 357 on the other hand he is almost impossible! He expects you to answer things in his words and if it isn't you get points deducted. Assignments are hard and lengthy, don't procrastinate them. Study, study, study for 357!

I did not enjoy attending this class at all. Make sure you attend class everyday! There is a few pages of notes taken everyday and random quizes over the notes. He also grades homework fairly hard. I finished the class with a B but really had to work for it.

Very good at giving instructions, but extremely unfair when grading exams. He counted a question as wrong once, because the answer was in the past tense. Ridiculous.

Generally a nice guy with a decent sense of humor. He can be a little awkward at times. He is pretty helpful, although there are times when you ask people ask him something, he tends to make them feel stupid. You must go to class, and take good notes. If you want an A, read the textbook as well.

Comment:

Not a good teacher I was confused the whole time, he tends to go on and on about nothing. If you do have to take him (which I strongly would advise NOT doing!!!)read everything, take notes before class, notes in class, notes after class and do not miss a day. The tests are not easy to understand and he is not helpful.
