Br. Bernardi is an absolute legend! Lectures were very interesting and helped me stay awake for the 8am class. Tests were very reasonable if you take decent notes. definitely one of my favorite classes I've taken at UCSC.

Comment:

Giacomo is the best! He's super passionate about the material and kind to all students. He always wants to help. He explains things very clearly, but has the occasional language barrier for which he is always sure to make up for. Everything syllabus wise is very clear and he never switches anything on you. He made the final optional during BLM.

Comment:

I never knew when to pay attention because he would constantly insert anecdotes about someone famous he knows or fish. Study off the slides. He referred to human trafficking as "imported women" and I never recovered to respect him or find anything he said funny.

Comment:

This professor rly is srsly passionate about evolution and fishes hah. He podcasts all his lectures, making it so convenient. He tests straight from his slides and tells you what to focus on. He has 2 SimoBios homework, pretty easy and fun. Overall he's a really funny and approachable man. I wish he taught other Upper Div science courses, take him!

Giacomo was hilarious! His lectures were informative and also a comedy show! He is very knowledgeable, genuine and always willing to help. The tests are straight forward. I will miss having him as a professor. He knows every fish in the world, it's amazing. He's a fish guru.

Giacomo is legit. From his exams to his lecturing style this Italian-French stallion does it all. Not only is the guy hilarious, he genuinely cares about his students. All of his lectures are posted online with voice recordings. Every class he has announcements with useful inromfation pertaining to the class. Enjoy going to his lectures

Love, love, loved this class. Giacomo is the best. Only thing I didn't like was that the class, including the syllabus and skull project, was a little disorganized. I would take this class again in a heartbeat.

Comment:

Giacomo taught the better half of the class. It was the easiest bio class I've ever taken in college. The test and quizzes were based off lecture notes. I hardly ever went to class, but when I did, he made the 8am class bearable with his jokes and interest in the subject.

I loved Bernardi in lecture he was funny, intelligent, and great at teaching. I really enjoyed the class. My only letdown was with his grading. For the lab portion I achieved a grade of 95.4%, but he believes in only the top 10 percent in a class should get As. So he gave me a B. When I told him it was unfair, he said "no it's just unfortunate"

He is one of the most awesome teachers I've ever had. He is extremely clear, brilliant, funny and engaging. His lectures were also entertaining. He was very clear in what he wanted you to learn and the exams were exactly what he said they would be -- extremely fair. Even the optional lecture was full; nobody skipped his lectures.

Comment:

Bio 20C is taught by two teachers, I had Bernardi and D'Amore. Giacommo is very funny, he's obsessed w/ fish. Somewhat hard to understand at times due to accent, posts his lecture notes and lectures at a good pace to take notes. Attendence at sections is mandatory and is 1/3 of the grade.

He's got the gift of teaching. so much charisma, thats what makes a good lecturer/teacher. He's one of only three or four profs ive ever had that really knows how to teach extremely well. Freakin entertaining! enthusiastic, well read, knowledgable and more than reasonable. Im taking all of his classes.

Awesome French accent made lectures more interesting. Very funny. Gives all lectures online and his notes online; didn't even have to purchase/look in the book. Test was very fair and relatively easy if you studied his notes and lectures.
