He knows what he's talking about when it comes to physics but he makes very annoying/inappropriate jokes about women that made me want to skip all the time. His exams are hard and you have to learn by yourself mostly. He is very monotone and staying awake in his lectures are hard. If I were you, I would take Prof. Piran instead.

Dr. Dowing is a great guy, but he has knee problems so he will sit and lecture with few demonstrations throughout. This can cause the lectures to be boring some days. The tests are hard, but he provides video reviews. Also, he gives a substantial amount of extra credit just for showing up to class, he also bumped me up a letter grade at the end.

Dr. D is an old guy, but he is funny and tries to keep lectures interesting. Tests were incredibly difficult, but the way he calculates grades really helped. If you're looking for an "easy" science then this might be a good one for you. You have to do work though. The lab final is harder than any of the tests too.

The notes and lecture are all straight forward. He really does explain all the details of the notes while showing demonstrations in class. Very funny and helpful in this course, would recommend.

Goes on tangents sometimes but that means that there is less that he puts on his tests. Only tests over what is discussed in class. Reading the textbook is recommended, especially if you aren't the best at physics, but if you can survive by just paying attention to PPTs and review videos you will pass easily. Pop quizzes extra credit

He's not too bad but the class is soooooo boring. His power points are all online which is great but he gives extra credit in class so try and go because I know I didn't. It's not hard just boring..

This class was definitely tough. You need the book to pass and attendance is important. He gives a lot of extra credit and that really helps out in the end. The lecture PowerPoint's are online, but you should bring your own notes anyway. The only way you can fail is if you do not try. However, it isn't easy and it takes some studying.

Downing is a very funny man. He reads directly off the power points and is very monotone so lectures are boring. Write your notes before class because he doesn't give you time to write them. His test are hard but gives you A TON of extra credit. I love the way he calculates your final grade. I definitely had to work hard to receive the grade I got.

He gets distracted easily by his demonstrations and powerpoints. Read your textbook- it will go into more detail than he does. He's actually really nice and funny. He gives A LOT of opportunities for extra credit. You literally just have to show up.

Downing is very monotone. His lecture demo videos are from the 90's, very poor quality and boring. Personal experience: I go to class, I make Quizlets for my reviews and practice tests, and study my butt off and still barely pass. This course is hard. Labs are easy and you need the easy grades to help your grade. If you get stuck in this class pray

Took him for Physics 101, and it was a great class. Dont waste your money buying the book. He has all of his powerpoints posted online, as well as 2 diffrent sample tests. No homework done at all, just study his practice tests and goto his test reviews he will have before every test and you will do great.

Good teacher. Test aren't hard if you study a couple times a week. Gives bonus points random days. some times just if you're there you get the points. Lab isn't hard either. Final was difficult. Study a lot!

He's a pretty good teacher overall. His tests are super weird, but not too hard. He gets kind of weird/intense/passionate about things that don't really matter. But he makes it pretty easy to make an A. He makes class very interesting with lots of demonstration. Pretty fun guy.

Dr. Downing is a great professor. I loved his class, although sometimes boring, he does make it fun. Show an intrest, go to his office hours, he is so willing to help, and hes a funny sweet man. Volunteer to do his in class experiments, and the key to getting a good grade is to GO TO CLASS (get bonus points) and read the BOOK!! I enjoyed this class

He is a great proffessor, always willing to help. He goes through his power points too quickly though but that is necessary to complete the course on time. physics is HARD so don't do it if u don't love it.
