Lots of readings to do, but really easy grades come from doing them. Only three exams, and daily participation grades. Some of her assignments are unclear, but shes very approachable and will answer questions

Comment:

She is the perfect professor for YA Lit since she teaches the class using different discussion styles, like a middle or high school class, that is beneficial to practice. However, for other classes or not Ed people, her activities flop. She does have quizzes often over reading. But she's an easy grader, and I love her morbid jokes and compassion.

Summerlin doesn't teach so much as bounce around the room while her students "discuss" whatever random, barely-related-to-class picture or quote she has in her slideshow that day. She creates projects that have no value other than learning not to be on the road at the same time as her. She wastes time with frivolous assignments and her "teaching".

She is awesome, funny and beyond sweet! Incredible teacher although sometimes she can get side tracted and forget things. If you do all the assignments you'll make an A, definitely recommend her!

We had a lot of assignments, but she scheduled it well that we had time to accomplish everything and do well. We did lots of quizzes in class so it mattered if you missed, but she offered extra credit opportunities to make up for the times you missed a class/quiz. She's super caring, gives good feedback, and funny-- like being taught by your mum :)

Dr. Summerlin is flexible and helpful, however whenever there was a big project the requirements and dates would get changed around a lot. Overall most things were graded for completion - but when the whole class did awful on a paper she let everyone correct it and raised up to three letter grades. She's kind of a push over because she's so sweet

Comment:

Hands down, the best professor at Lee...for several reasons. She is kind, compassionate, understanding, and totally willing to work with you. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field of literature and as long as you put in the effort you will make an A-she won't give a grade you didn't earn. Advisor, mentor, professor, friend. Funny too!

Rhetoric and Research was a really easy class. Only two big papers the whole semester. At times, Summerlin can be scatterbrained but its not hard to make an A.

Comment:

Dr. Summerlin is great. She is very laid back and easy to get along with. She's does cancel class when she requires a paper which is fantastic. The class is easy. The quizzes are easy. Reading is required. She is so laid back, though, that it was bad for me. I missed multiple classes and assignments, but still did relatively well in the class.

Very easy and gives a lot of extra credit. Super sweet and the class really doesn't require all that much time or effort. She's so easy going that it makes it very hard to get motivated to do any kind of quality work.

Summerlin is for the most part easy. Quiz's are nearly completion, tons of extra credit, and allows corrections on papers. You can do whatever you want in class. She will cancel class during papers. But Beware: Despite all of this she will grade your final draft strict. Slack off, but when it comes to the final draft work hard.

Dr. Summerlin is a sweetheart! She really cares about her students. The class itself is pretty easy. She provides plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Dr. Summerlin is very sweet and understanding.

She knows her literature. She was very sweet. However I went to New England with her. She was disorganized and a bit scattered. If you dont mind getting lost about 10 times a day then you will do okay- but many times I just wanted to go on my own. But when it comes to teaching- shes great :)

Dr. Summerlin is a great adviser and teacher. She is hilarous too. I love all her stories that have nothing to do with class.
