Just finished the class. It was very tough considering I have never coded before. If you take this class I have a few pieces of advice. To understand the content.. write down notes during lectures on paper, rewatch lectures and take notes on MATLAB, and lastly do the exam practice problems. A lot of the work has to be done on your own to succeed.

-Doesn't give students resources to succeed -Terrible at answering questions -Extremely boring and has 0 personality -Terrible at explaining how coding works -Lectures are very messy and hard to understand -Doesn't come prepared for class -Spends a lot of the class fixing his code and then expects us to be able to code 7 functions in 60 min.

Terrible at answering questions, illegible handwriting, expects you to have already mastered all math classes, extremely dense exams with very little time to complete them, confusing and boring lectures, refuses to update blackboard, no place to check your grades, if you don't program his way, it's wrong. Unless you already know matlab, don't take.

Talks nonsense, never solves a problem on board, doesn't upload anything online. You don't know what to study for tests. And his test is different than other instructors so studying old exams is useless

For some context, I had zero experience with Matlab going into 222, and I like to consider myself to be a decent math student. Class is boring/not super helpful and HW is hard, but if you look over the old HW you can do well enough. 1st test, medium, 2nd hard, 3rd easy af. Final-easy. Study old finals. Simply memorize the methods he goes discusses.

DO NOT take Professor Diamond. I am a 3.8 GPA student and I had to drop his Calc 2 class. Super smart guy which is the problem. Skips multiple steps on board, illegible handwriting, disorganized when presenting lectures. Also has a hard time getting points across to students. Quizzes and exams determine grade. No homework.

Professor Diamond is a very nice guy. Do not let the complex things he includes in lecture make you think that his tests are going to be hard. I studied previous quizzes and tests and did just fine in the class. Quizzes at the beginning are taken in class, but then he gives take home quizzes for the rest of the semester. Dnt be upset if you get him

The man is a mathematical genius, which does not help someone who isn't. He does have difficulty helping students, but that's mostly because he is too smart to break it down for someone who is not on his mental level. He does care about you learning and understanding the topics, but again has difficulty bringing it down 2 your average calc2 student

Answers questions poorly; doesn't update online notes for extended periods; illegible handwriting; says to use former assignments but they aren't helpful; doesn't provide useful feedback wgrades; will take off half credit for syntax preference; won't accept any working alternative to his own code; class is useless for HW, exams; unclear directions

I would not recommend him for any other students. He was confusing and constantly belittled us calling us stupid and such. I went to his office to receive help and he just stared at me and wasted my time. His class is much harder than the other sections. If you are going in bind you will have to be able to teach yourself.

Only professor for this class. I was required to take it and absolutely nobody likes it. Grading is ridiculous. His exams are off the charts. He has old ones online but they don't help as much as they should. He tells you to use them to study too.

Pretty mean guy, he never actually answers any question that is asked. I learned basically nothin. He is the only professor for 222 and he is by far the hardest I have ever had, if you don't type something exactly as he does you might as well forget about getting credit. Good luck! I would suggest finding a comparable CS course to contract instead

You couldn't understand his handwriting nor what he was saying in class. The textbook for the class did not relate to the tests he gave. He did not even show examples of what to do on the tests. His quizzes would be 6 long questions while he would leave the last 20 minutes of class for you to complete it, which no one ever would.

Diamond is a tough guy. He makes sure that you know your stuff. His tests are mostly fair, but sometimes the questions come from left field. If you ask him for help, he WILL help. he comes off as shy, but he has an "interesting" sense of humor. The guy is super-smart, but sometimes has trouble dumbing things down a bit. I WOULD recommend taking him

This guy really knows his stuff with matlab, plus he's probably one of the funniest professors i've ever had. He goes off on tangents where a lot of students have no idea what's going on, but you're not required to know it. He prepares you very well for the test, and the curve makes it easy to get an A or a B.

Words cannot describe how bad he is. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs, he grades like a mad man and is the death of all 4.00 students, he doesn't teach so unless you feel like wasting money on a teacher who's mentality is it is college teach yourself 98% of the material go find a teacher who actually cares about their students!

A terrible terrible professor. I have had a 4.0 for the last 2 years and all As in calculus classes, but i dont understand a WORD he says. Being a math class, he hasn't solved a single problem in class since Day 1 and looks petrified if asked to do any work. HORRIBLE PROF WHO DOESNT CARE ABOUT THIS CLASS. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
