He is a great professor, who really knows what he's talking about. His labs are difficult but he is always there to help. I highly recommend him if you want to learn about Geology!

He knows that most of the people taking the class are not really interested in GEOL but just need the NS credit, yet he still makes the tests difficult. Whats learned in class is not on the tests and the power-points are only helpful on a few questions. Only grades are the tests and the optional extra credit. Tough class if you are a bad test taker

I had Dr. Bennington for Planet Earth, he uses powerpoint presentations. Study hard, his test are tough. Gives extra credit, gives good feedback and very approachable outside of the classroom. I will be taking 2 more courses with him Spring 2019. Looking forward toward this.

Definitely a cool guy but the amount of work you have to do/ readings are pretty massive. Writing intensive course that demands essays. Tests are hard but he allows extra credit (TAKE ADVANTAGE< YOU WILL NEED IT). Get your labs done and reading and you could probably pull a high B or even an A if you were smart enough to do the extra credit he gave

I took Prof. Bennington for hydrology. It's a lab class. You pick your lab partners on the first day and do all the labs with those folks. The due dates are generally soft deadlines, which is a trusting way to run the course that's really convenient. You can even hand in corrections on graded labs for a better grade. Would recommend!

This class is AMAZING. There is a lot of group work, all of which was manageable- easy even. There are a million extra credit opportunities- most are really fun field trips. The two tests are fine but require studying. He enjoys going off on tangents so get ready for interesting anecdotes. In my opinion he is just like Ms. Frizzle (without a bus).

Bennington is awesome! Definitely take him if you can. I thought geology was going to suck, but he made it fun. He makes it interesting. He's hilarious and tells great stories. He posts all his powerpoints online. His tests are suprisingly difficult but as long as you study hard, you'll be fine. He offers extra credit. Take him for lab also.

It was his first time teaching the class, he didn't do horribly. Study briefly for the quizzes. He cares about our writing skills which is generous of him since he could've just graded us harshly without warning/redemption. Didn't feel like I learned much actual geology, but I enjoy astronomy, so it was fine.

He is such a sweet guy that you want to pay attention. I didn't even buy the textbook and I just paid attention in class and took notes and knew and understood everything for the tests (and science is not my thing). Really understanding and helpful - wants to be there for his students. I would take him again for sure.

He was a good teacher. Thank god for the extra credit though. The tests aren't really that easy if you're not good at science. Just take the midterm, do the 20 point extra credit at the Natural History Museum and then go on the hike which counts as the final for the class. The Inner Fish book was actually pretty interesting too.

If you need a science credit, take him for geol 006, dinosaur class. It was so much fun and attendance isn't mandatory except for the labs which aren't hard at all. I had a coloring lab for crying out loud ha. Plus he's very funny and makes class enjoyable. I'd give him my highest recommendation.

he was a overall a very good professor. he knows that practically noone who is taking the class will be a geology major and he is willing to drop lowest test grade + extra credit. it is very easy to do well in his class. he's also pretty funny too
