Comment:

Dr. Kosicki is a great guy, he knows a lot and will talk with me after class for awhile! Heavy liberal agenda but is really focused on educating and opening students minds. Public Opinion can be a pretty common sense class but he brings historical and current issues in to connect the ideas.

Awesome guy, took him to lunch, very knowledgeable about the subject. Made sure that we understood the subject matter, and did so in a variety of ways.

Comment:

His class (lectures) were so boring! His exams were kind of tricky and not as clear as his lectures and what you studied or read out the book. This class was a requirement and couldnt get around it. But if you're not into research then dont take it. It also reminded me of a STATS class!

I was surprised that I enjoyed this class. He posts power points online, but don't let make you wants to skip since he takes attendance every class. You have to write three papers that are about a weeks readings. The quizzes and midterms are also online. He grades accurately and if you have questions, he's very quick to respond.

Comment:

Dr. Kosicki is extremely bright and well informed, as any professor should be, but I felt like he was always talking down to us. At one point, he told the class that we're known as "the dumbest generation" and he consistently raises his voice because he's angry/irritable. However, it's been a rather easy semester in 4820. Attendance is taken daily!

Very boring lectures. Assigns 3 one page papers over readings of your choice. Midterm was take home essay, and final is online. Also required a group paper and presentation. Gets upset easily and rants about political issues every class. Very grumpy and doesn't like when his grading is questioned. Refuses to give full credit on any assignment.

A very intelligent, caring professor, although he may not come across this way at first. Lectures can be boring, but if you can try hard to pay attention, he has a great deal of interesting information to share. I'd suggest getting to know him & attend an OH or 2 b/c he can be very understanding & flexible w/ assignments if he knows you.

Prob the most liberal teacher I have ever had.. Easy class! Be prepared to write alot of papers at the end of the semester. Class was painfully boring!

Very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Lectures are mandatory, but the slides are online. Four online quizzes make up the midterm. He gives you plenty of time and you can have the slides up, so it's super easy. Take home final. Ten page paper and 15 minute presentation are the only bummer.

Dr. Kosicki is probably one of the most well informed and intelligent teachers I have had in my four years at OSU. He understands the material and puts all his slides on Carmen. You learn a great deal from the debates which are a lot of work but end up being fun.However, his lectures can get pretty dull! Recommend for sure though :)

I had 3 classes with him and he really is a nice, helpful professor. I will say he was more approachable in 567 than the other classes bc he was more interested in the topic. The debates were very informative and fun, but you have to get back the boring discussions first. Respect him and you will do just fine.

Not very informative when it comes to assignments. A lot of the midterm questions were pretty obscure, and the final was take home essays which once again were fairly obscure. It was an incredibly boring class that was supposed to be discussion based but he just talked the whole time. The debates were at least interesting. I would not recommend.
