Comment:
He is a really nice guy and the actual class is great with a lot of movies. However, if you are not a great reader, you will struggle. As someone with 5 other courses that demands attention, I don't have time to read a 400 page book in 7 days. Again, if you are fine with heavy reading and do not mind writing papers then you will love this class.

Awesome prof and genuinely nice guy. A number of shorter papers with one longer research paper, a midterm and a final exam. Fair grader, shows lots of films to support textbook readings and lectures. Hope to take him again - strongly suggest!

He has a passion for Asian Studies and shows it in all his classes!! Most of his classes typically are two papers, two test (midterm/final), daily quizzes on readings. Lots of reading but you will get a lot out of his class!

He's so passionate about what he does. So smart and intelligent and thoughtful, a really nice professor who taught me things I had never even thought about. The best professor I've had in college. It's easy to do well in his class because it's so interest

Very understanding, very patient, and willing to work with students. Realizes that not too many people have exposure to his field (east asia), and accomodates. Very accomplished, but down to earth. Loyola made a good choice to bring him on board.

A very nice, considerate, inteligent prof. Do most of the reading and pay attention and you'll do very well. A little dry and monotone at times but overall a good prof and light grader!
