With Leslie, if you show up, participate meaningfully, and stay engaged, youre going to receive a good grade. She may be unclear with how she grades you and shes not the most organized, but my advice would be just to give your best effort on the assignments (without going overboard) and participating in class, and youll get the grade you want.

Really great professor! Class is pretty casual, mainly spent just conversing back and forth with her in Spanish (with some English mixed in) over the things you read about for homework. Workload isn't bad, and she really cares about making sure her students improve their Spanish. Don't let her mediocre ratings on here keep you away. She is great!

Dr. Bary had a lot of personal issues during the semester so she was very absent minded. She did not read nor grade any of the 10 essays I turned in during the semester and just made up everyone's grades. Take her if you're okay with a B when you actually worked hard for your A. Don't take her, she is a mess; although sweet she is a bad professor.

Oh Leslie. Very unorganized. Loves to help and engage students in the class so I definitely learned. Gives feedback and willing to help. I should be getting an A? Not sure bc doesn't use Moodle. Tests open book, uses iLRN (online program) so prepare for lots of homework! Pretty scatter-brained, I think she does too much and is not balancing it all.

Dr. Bary is clearly an intelligent woman and that is intimidating to some people but if you actually want to learn the language, she is the one to schedule. She's got a really quirky personality which I love! She's far from dull!

Dr. Bary has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is well organized, and more than competent in her field. She has high expectations for her students and follows through providing students with interesting course study that facilitates a higher level of learning opportunity than most. Yeah. I didn't take away anything the first semester I took her and I haven't learned anything the 2nd time. She was the only one who had a class open b/c the others were filled up. You read the stories and have so much "homework" that she never picks up or grades. And then we have quizzes on stuff that has nothing to do with what we did.

She is horrible!!! She do not teach grammar, we talked more about Lil Wayne than Spanish and when the whole class fail the test she blamed us and said "if you can't pass this test than you shouldn't be in college". She did plan alot of study sessions outside of class. If you take her get ready to teach your self Spanish!

Read Dr. Bary's Curriculum Vitae. A professor this accomplished should not be required to teach lower level courses. Teaching 1st-year students, many of whom would rather complain than perform, is a waste of this woman's time and talents. I found her to be enormously well-informed, fair, and helpful.

Most people don't like her. I think she is very nice, and although scatterbrained, she does care and try. She's always available for help. Only thing is im nervous about having to take 102 with another professor.

She is extremely rude to certain students. She has gone off on tangents about how certain students are incompetent on more than one occasion. She isn't a very good teacher, either. She mainly asks questions the entire class rather than teaching the grammar and fundamentals and then asking questions. She scoffs when students ask questions often.
