For the books, I borrowed most of them from the local library. Though for two of them I had to buy, so that's something. Be prepared to read the whole novel in a week or less. Personally, I didn't have much trouble with the class other than the reading load. If you are willing to read a lot and talk a lot during class, you'll pass, otherwise, drop.

Worst teacher Ive ever had. I had to buy 4 books for this class! She expects you to read entire novels in 3-4 days. 2/3 of the class dropped in the first couple of weeks and Im telling you they had the right idea. If youre not willing to put in WORK you better drop or not take her class.

The point of this course is to demonstrate critical thinking skills through writing. Our instructor succeeded in providing materials and information for us to do that. She used open source texts and affordable texts. She graded fairly and gave higher grades to assignments I spent more time.

Avoid if possible. Conflicting, unclear instructions. Assigned a book no one could get and had reading due ASAP. Doesn't understand how to use online learning. Often unfair and illogical grading. Difficult to communicate with. Interesting class with good material but ultimately more work than it's worth if you can take another class instead.

Comment:
Unclear and confusing instructions. I take my responsibilities too; probably not being a native speaker I found the instructions very difficult to understand but I got 7 As in a row before, while this was a C. There should be some kind of checking on the instructors' teaching skills. This class messed up my GPA and was a very unpleasant experience.

Took this class online. A ton of homework and reading. Had to read 4 different books. I think we had to write maybe 6 essays if I remember correctly. Only 3 pages in length double-spaced. I would recommend taking her if you like writing essays, and reading a lot..

Shes very disorganized, this was her first time using the books we used in class this quarter. She doesn't use an electronic grading system so i have NO idea what my grade is! She gives back the essays with good feedback but I did not enjoy her class. She is very nice though.

I dropped this class because the amt of homework she assigned was impossible to complete esp if you're a working-student; assigned 2 essays which were due just 2 days apart; on the same week, students were mandated to be on-campus to take the Midterm Exam; this happened in the span of 2-weeks. Don't expect constructive criticism from her.

Please don't take this course. She is nice enough, but her instructions are extremely jumbled & unclear. She assigns a ridiculous amt of HW each wk (read: 1500 word essay/wk + at least 2x that in disc. forum). It's hard to tell what she wants. And she makes you write half of the essays on-site - what is the pt. of this being an online course then?!

Class was easy but teacher grades tougher than normal. Incredibly boring. Incredibly, incredibly boring. I got an A but that was because I wrote a satirical essay that she loved which, I guess, was because it different from the normal essays and amused her.

If you are looking to get an easy A, I would suggest you do not take this class. It is challenging and you will receive a lot of work at one time and have times when you have absolutely no work, but the benefits are great. The course is not impossible believe me I began with a B average on all my work but by half way I was receiving A's.

There will be weekends when you are required to read 400 pages and write two essays. You may also get jumbled essay prompts that are longer than the essays you need to write. It's a ridiculous amount of work, but if you keep up with it you'll do well in the course. Nice professor, just a LOT of reading and busywork.

This class was extraordinarily boring. It's pretty easy and straightforward, but completely unproductive. Most people don't show up at any given class so group work is pointless.

The class was pretty straight forward. Work load is light with only 6 small essays. It is true she was absent often, and her lectures are unfortunately taken up by useless student interpretation instead of discussion of the text. The major complaint was her grading, but if your composition skills are fair, an A is possible.

Not that great of a professor. I signed up for Survey or English Literature. It was supposed to be a lit. class and all she did was talk about plot and characters- no real depth. She then expected amazing and fantastic essays that were dense with information, when there was no discussion to aid us in our essays. Easy to please if you participate.

Took this for an online class, we had a few in person meetings which was really cool. Linda's a great professor and she made things interesting. Great assignments and excellent explanations as to why your grade was what it was. I would reccommend her
