here directions were very confusing and she takes attendance 5 mins before classes starts. over explains some things and under explains others :/ easy A for speech class but would not take her other wise!!

Comment:

Dr. Riede is a very caring and challenging professor. Her class required work and dedication, but you do learn a lot. Don't take her if you just want an easy gen-ed, because attendance is mandatory and you have to put in the work. Sometimes assignments may seem a little confusing but she'll explain very clearly and give examples if you just ask.

She is in my opinion one of the best professors. She is tough but her expectations aren't insurmountable. Everyone should take this class. I use what I learned everyday.

Wow, I don't think a couple of these comments are even about the right professor. Riede is so easy to get along with: bubbly and everything we do helps me to understand the material and how I can grow. Everyone improves! She is organized and clear about assignments. If you have an issue, you must expect something for nothing; put in an effort!

I have had Riede for fundamentals of public speaking & oral interp. She is a very difficult professor because the way she explains tasks is hard to understand. You kind of have to figure things out on your own. However her classes are fun. It's a challenge but I say it's worth it.

I love Professor Riede. She has an awesome personality, she really wants her students to succeed, she goes over and beyond her job description. She doesn't have favorites, like students claim she has. She loves everyone, and has a sincere passion for teaching. You will enjoy her class, take with confidence, and do the work.

This class is amazing. We are active and involved everyday! In one class I'll present 4 speeches, perform 1 role play, and solve 5 formal group problems. In addition we have other in class activities and discussions. It is amazing, fun, and I'm learning a lot. The quizzes online can be technically awkward, D2L not Riede. I may change my major!

Riede is amazing. She changed my life. I am so much more confident because she build everyone up in the class. She is very motivational. I also got really close to my classmates. Except the few bitter ones who didn't care. Unfortunate, but everyone else loved the class. I am scheduled to take another class with her in the fall.

You rarely if ever receive any positive feedback. She only tells you what you've done wrong. The role plays are ridiculous. She gives you very little time to prepare for them, and if you don't perform them how she would herself, you're lucky to get an 85. I would classify this as a self-help workshop not a general education class!

Honestly as long as you want to learn something & don't confuse a fun professor with being an easy, childish push-over then this could be the best class you've ever had! Although she has very high expectations, she likes to have fun, knows what she is talking about, & really cares. I don't know anyone who took the class seriously & got below a B.

This was the worst Gen Ed I have ever taken. A majority of my class gots Cs for this 100 level class. Most of your grade is based on presentations which she grades based on how much she likes you. I got a lower grade on a speech than a girl who stuttered and didn't take her eyes off her paper. It's like taking a class from a twelve year old.

Dr. Riede is a lot of fun, but her SPCH101 class is challenging, unlike other gen-eds that anyone with half of a brain can pass. One downside is the attendance policy. If it is an excused absence, she may give you partial credit for the day, but your grade will drop significantly, regardless of whether your excuse is legitimate or not.

Interesting. I've had her for 3 classes and they are all different. This speaks to her versatility as a professor and willingness to adapt to the needs of the topic and her students. She is challenging, but always creates assignments that are fun and educational. I?ve come to respect her style and now realize just how much I have learned from her.

Riede is very challenging. Compared to my buddies who have taken other professors, I feel like I have learned a lot! Her assignments were hard, but now I know how to write and prepare speeches. I'm more confident too! My buddies keep coming to me for help. If you want to learn to speak with confidence and are not afriad of hard work, take Riede.
