It is extremely hard to get 100% in the class, almost impossible. So many curve balls on the test

Weird but overall a really good prof. Did a good job of making sure everyone got what she was talking about and the labs were usually pretty interesting. Tests can be tough but if you look at the past years tests, youre likely to do fine.

The reason I put not many tests as a tag was that you have 3 tests in the term, but only your best 23 count. Also, you get a marking contract where you decide how much each component of the course is (within a range). There's also a bonus project worth up to 5% of your grade. She's very willing to help her students out however she can.

Dr. Pitts it's a really good prof! She puts a lot of effort into teaching and helping her students, so she expects a lot of effort back from you. She has weekly help classes (super useful) and office hours, plus she's pretty quick to respond to emails. Definitely not the easiest course, but if you put the effort in you should do fine.

I'm not a big fan of Chem to begin with. But Pitts tries really hard to get you into the course material. I think she could be an awesome teacher but not for me. She marks pretty easy first semester but second she marks harder. I would suggest asking lots of questions in class.

Dr. Pitts is very dedicated to her students and wants them to be successful. The class content and workload is manageable. She has a weekly help class for anyone that wants some extra clarification along with in-class notes you can print off to follow along with. She is a bit odd but by the end of the year you are pretty well used to it.

Dr.pitts has the potential to be a great teacher, However she teaches a fourth year class. She is in no way suited for first year chem. she makes it clear, I have used over 60$ in ink. I print 20 pages of parital notes a week, 10 pages of assignments and 20 pages for a lab. Take your first year somewhere else to avoid this course. please.

She just is not a good teacher, she does try to make it fun and interesting but ends up making you feel like a child. You will not be able to follow her classes she doesn't even teach. It is all just partial notes, good luck if you don't have a good basis of chem going in.

Dr. Pitts has a lot of visuals, such as her "partial note printouts" and a lot of things that give the illusion of a good professor, but underneath all of that, you come to realize that she lacks what a truly effective professor has - and that's actually caring about how her students perform and making a conscious effort to recognize that.

I like Dr. Pitts, I have no idea what people why people talk bad about her.. this was a very difficult course for me esp with the math parts, but if you show up during her help sessions and ask questions you can do this course and more than just pass! Did like the course? no, but she did help me respect chemistry!

A lot of people say that Dr. Pitts speaks with an undermining tone, and this may be true, however if you really knew her you would realize she does not think she is any better than anyone else. She is actually one of the few professors at this school who wants to teach and puts all of her effort into teaching rather than research.

E. M. Forster once said 'Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon.' Best advice to deal with her. Turn off your mind and let her feed the info to you, It'll all be over in four month. Course content improves in upper year courses but teaching style remains the same.

She knew what she was talking about, but sometimes it was not explained in the simplest if ways for ME to understand. I wouldn't avoid her classes, and she's not the worst prof ever, I just didn't understand as much from her as when my friend tutored me. (I'm fairly average, academically.)

She has several good qualities especially of being always available for guidance. However, she had worst quality of trying to impose her way of things on others and creating fear in minds of students through her words and behaviour. One thing I suggest Dr Crowe is to change her diplomatic and defensive attitude towards her students to empathetic.

Pitts is an awful professor, the worst at the AC. The only thing worse than Pitts is Ms. Tate, her lab assistant. Worst class ever at the AC, avoid first year at AC just so you don't have to have Pitts.

She talks to you like you are in grade 2. Big change from CHEM1000, which was a half-decent course. Lab marking in this class is very inconsistent, avoid Dr. Pitts at all costs, her classes are definitely not worth the hassle of dealing with her. Labs are terrible in this class.
