Comment:

I found her lectures to be boring, as well as she marks very much on opinion. She doesn't believe in perfect grades. For the final exam there was a short answer portion and also an essay portion, had to write 5, 2 page essays in the span of an hour it was quite frustrating. She has no problem holding you up after class, she is nice though.

She is a sweet lady, nice and humourious. Apparently she has strong feeling with those literatures. Love her class.

Comment:

Don't show up unprepared for and you definitely dont want to skip because she selects people to answer questions at random constantly. I found for major assignments (presentations, long essays) she made them harder to quantify in order to make up for a lack of ideas. Workload isn't that heavy, but to do well you have to be creative and prepared.

Comment:

Not the best idea to take her classes if you aren't in love with english. She knows a lot, and expects you too as well (when she randomly selects you to talk in class). She doesn't do well with extensions so hopefully you don't come down with an illness while in her class. Don't take unless you're an extremely active student.

Really nice lady outside of class. Go to her after class and she will help you out immensely. Heck, she wrote my essay for me. In class however, she is rude and has unclear instructions.

She definitely is not an easy marker, but as an english course, you should not expect it to be easy. I've taken English at other universities and she is by far the most enthusiastic and caring that I've had. (Yes, Shakespeare!One of the basics of English.) Do the readings/ assignments, go to class and ask questions when you can-- you'll do fine.

Very disorganized, I've noticed that if your opinion is not the same as her's it's wrong and she will express that, her assignments have very unclear instructions, I've noticed she changes her mind a lot about what she wants, I lost all faith in her as a professor when she spelled the word "processed" as "processt" nice woman not a good professor

This has been by far the worst class i have ever attended. She marks insanely hard and if she doesn't agree with you its impossible to get a good mark. She assigns a ton of work. Also she will call on you to answer questions about stuff that is way out in left field. She needs to retire and i highly recommend to NOT TAKE HER CLASS!

This prof is dry and boring. SUPER RELIGIOUS!!! and doesn't know how to use a computer at all. marks hard. She LOVE Poems and Nature if you do, take her, other than that not a first choice.

This course is a mix of good and bad. The content is easy, although the Burley marks VERY hard. She also is extremely unorganized, and is very out to lunch. The texts we read were all questionable and had to do with sex drugs and or death. She's a nut. Reconsider this professor

Not going to lie, the class was one of the hardest classes to pay attention in. Really dry and boring conversations, too much emphasis on shakespeare and plays. Fairly hard marker on tests and assignements, a little wacky sometimes, shes a nice person, but maybe time to retire.

Terrible english professor. The class felt more like a philosophy class than an english class. All we ever talked about was being in touch to your spiritual side. If you miss a class, you need a DOCTORS note to be excused. She also uses new books every semester so you can't even sell them back afterwards. She was a nice person, just a bad teacher

She loves to do plays. She's a little flighty and all over the place but she's open to new ideas and opinions. Keep to the topic and do the readings, also try and have contacts in the class so that if you have to miss they can tell her straight away (it's a lot less hassel then hoping she finds your e-mail)

Ms. Burley was by far the worst prof I have ever had. You might do better if your not a guy (in my opinion, she seems to be a total anti-man feminist) but I still would not reccomend her. She treats students like they're little kids, not very encouraging atall. Take intro to lit from anybody but her.

A stickler for attendance which is her one downfall. She is flighty and easily distracted, but lots of fun. takes teaching quite seriously, very approachable.
