Comment:
Professor Maggie has been in the chemistry field for many years, so she knows her stuff. She takes attendance for class and lab, but I'm not sure how much attendance affects her grading at the end of the semester. She's very caring and willing to help outside of class. Her exams are tough, but it for sure tests how much you studied. She's great!

Comment:
Though Maggie is a very good prof. and is willing to help if asked, I docked pts. for her complaining of coworkers. She doesn't have the highest level of ed. but acts like it and speaks down to/about coworkers often. Her tests aren't too hard if you take notes and listen. Kissing butt gets you a long way with her. She is VERY lonely and seeks att.

I took Chem 1A/1B with Maggie and enjoyed both. Her classes are not as difficult as some reviews make it seem, she just expects a lot from her students. Maggie is the best professor I've ever had, so much so that one mention of Chem 2 years after taking her class inspired me to write this review. She is a sincere and friendly person, take her class

Maggie is one of the most feared teachers at chabot. She is wonderful in the sense that she is caring and very organized, but this class is impossible to get an A in, especially if you have other tough classes in the semester. She is incredibly nit-picky and will make you grind for this class.

Maggie's class will filter out slackers. She's ultra-organized and grades with fine (often annoying) detail. She has high expectations but she will gladly stay behind to help anyone who approaches her. As long as you work for the grade, she'll be there to help you get it. Just don't fall behind, you'll regret it. Keywords: Office hours & STUDY!

Her notes are very clear and she does a pretty good job explaining the topics. On the other hand, her tests are tricky and pretty difficult, same goes for her quizzes.

She's nice. Her tests/quizzes are hard yet fair. I initially took 1B in Ohlone College with Professor Grant (who is the hardest teacher ever) and did horribly in it. The only problem I had was that she grades her labs really meticulously, which sucks cause its a big part of your grade (25%!). Be wary of sig figs because she takes them seriously!

Comment:
I have taken her for CHEM1A as well and I feel a little different, but in a good way, about Maggie. She puts highest precedence over her ability to be clear to a student (so that the student understands), than other things while bending her policy. So, she is very lenient with her class. However, she gives difficult quizzes and exams.

Professor Shumacher is an amazing professor and person. I do not know what Chabot's Chemistry department would do without her!! She has a strong passion for teaching chemistry and offers to help as much as she as able to. In addition, she is very social and everyone is able to have a friendly conversation with her.

Maggie is very organized, and is clear at what she expects from students. She is good at having students break bad habits and is very helpful and approachable. She also has stories and jokes that add a fun element to Chemistry. I cannot wait to have her for 1A and 1B!

BEST teacher hands down! Extremely organized, and it shows through her Lecture notes. Study the lecture notes (she gives out hints of whats going to be on the exam), go to her office hours for questions. HW is optional, but i highly recommend doing it for practice. There's 4 exams, 1 research paper, and 1 final. Easy A if you put in the effort!

Take Maggie! Great lecture notes! Tests are lecture based, fair, & lots of bonus pts given. Do the homework (check your answers w/ the solutions manual), sample exam questions, & study your notes! You should get an A. Need help? Go to her office hours, she's very helpful (hint: ask her to review your lab before turning it in & write conclusions!
