Comment:

Mark is an interesting professor. He is really hands off and requires students to do most of their class work online, he will sit and read yahoo news. During class he will also go off on tangents about protests that he is involved with. He expects students to be experts in biology, he will answer any questions with confusing questions.

Comment:

Mark in general is a nice guy. Mark teaches using flipped classroom style, but in a very non productive way. This class is hard and a lot of times he is not prepared and very bad at answering questions. The test are extremely difficult. I ended up passing this class but I was stressed out. Less than 10 passed this class. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Comment:

Super nice person but this class is flipped which I've had a flipped class before and was fine, however, this class was much harder. I had to drop it since I have other classes and so far this one was taking up all my study time. The quizzes were difficult since they came before the lecture, which I didn't experience in my previous flipped class.

Comment:

Mark is very kind and cares about his but students his teaching style was uphill the whole time. His flipped classroom method requires more time then he estimates, in total equaling 10-15 hrs per week. Study guides are not an option and never truly knowing what was going to be tested on was extremely challenging. Like Mark but not his style. BEWARE

Comment:

HARD! Mark is really nice and genuine, but you're going to sweat. It's not a traditional teaching style, and there's lots of homework. You will really need to work for your A. The difficulty is made a bit better with the grading curve, and he's very accomodating and goes out of his way to help, even outside of campus. It will challenge you.

This class is flipped styled, meaning you read and learn the material BEFORE class. During class you discuss and gets answers if you have questions. Biology is a hard subject as it is, but learning it on your own and having to do the homework (which is all graded) before class is ridiculous! I regret taking this class before reading all the comment

Comment:

New and different teaching style, but amazing personality. If you think getting an easy A is what college is about, then you have missed the point of a college education. If you had a hard time and dropped, then it sounds like you need to work on your study practices, because, guys, college doesn't get easier... get over it and earn that degree.

The first day of class he sent an email with links showing how the classroom is ran dont be fooled by these. Instead it is you reading and answering question, takes about 8 hours a week. When you ask a ? in class he doesnt answer he makes you tell him what you know but never answers. Take this class if you want to take online bio class.

He teaches you how to succeed no matter what field you choose. He teaches resourcefulness, perseverance and resilience. His class is not easy. You have to go beyond by finding different sources to reinforce your learning. He is not most teachers who just goes by what is on the book. He doesn't want you to memorize, he wants you to understand.

I took His class and didn't regret at all since this class isn't Directly prerequisite class. I hoped he teaches Ana or Micro but he didn't. His class gives good foundation for who are trying to get A for Ana, Micro & Physio. I got A and it brings me an A for Ana. He curves all tests, 3 exams, 1 final. Comment:

Mark spends his conscientiousness and passion in class. He helps you to get ready for next classes. His teaching style is difficult, that requires you to pay attention during class. Prepare HWs and take a look at PPoint be4 class. Test is hard, it requires your understanding but all tests will be on curves. Take his class in order to be succeeded!

Took this class over the summer. Mark is super cool and helpful. Not your typical class where the teacher lectures in class while the students just sit there. Students have to WORK HARD, read, and understand the material BEFORE the lecture so that there can be a discussion among the whole class. This allows for better understanding of the subject

Comment:

Mr. Kamakea is a nice guy, but he really needs to work on his teaching skills. I passed his class, but only after doing a lot of extra studying on my own via the internet. If it wasn't for the internet, I probably wouldn't have passed. His lectures are a jumble of different things and none of them stay on point. This was the hardest class I took.

I have never failed a class before until I took this one, and I have an undergrad degree already. Mr. K is extremely confusing with a convoluted grading style. There is something wrong if you're getting A's in lab and work, but failing all the tests. He expects you to have knowledge beyond that of a basic biology course. Don't take this class.

Comment:

Multiple students in class complained about his teaching methods and yet he refuses to adjust. Not only that but he assigns close to 5 pieces of homework every week and doesn't seem to know his students have lives outside of his class. Plus, he refuses to clarify material. Definitely not the best teacher. Avoid if you actually want to learn.

I think of myself as an above average student and I did not pass this class. I read the material and I studied. His tests are D-I-F-F-I-C-U-L-T! The labs were okay, but the exams were just plain horrible. Mr K is a nice guy, but a horrible teacher. I now have to switch from a full time job to part time, to retake this class with another instructor.

Don't don't don't don't don't don't ! It obvious this man thinks people's lives is a joke. I wasted 800 dollars on day care and still ended up withdrawing from the class. This man offers nothing but his presence and he thinks it's cute. Students are there to learn what does he get paid to do come in and turn on the lights. Please fire him. Not fare

Mr. Kamakea is a good guy but he is very confusing and all his lectures are very boring. In his class i always fell in sleep because he teaches in a way that you will definitely fall asleep. He doesn't answer questions and I wish i didn't take his class.
