While she's a kind and invested professor, be prepared for very hard grading. I got the same grade on all 11 of our homework assignments, which was roughly same grade I got in the class. While she's fair, be prepared to never get over a 95% on any assignment ever.

Melissa is kind, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Participation matters a lot in her class, so she'll call on you even if your hand isn't up. Doesn't upload anything related to participation until the very end of the semester and takes a long time to grade most things, so just talk w her if you don't know where you stand. Great prof and person!!

Melissa is a sweetheart and I love her as a professor, but she is a harsh grader. Participation means talk a lot every day. Essays need to focus on analyzing certain passages word by word (not just general themes). She grades really slowly. There are very few grades in the course - oral presentation, midterm essay, participation, and final essay.

She is awesome, but you have to really work for your grade. Participation means speak up several times per day, never pause. Can get by without the readings but I wouldn't advise it. Will give you all positive feedback and still give you a B in the class. Requires literary analysis skills that are not easy to produce for non-lit majors.

Prof. Dinverno is such an awesome literature professor. H328 not only improved my Spanish skills but also my lit analysis skills, which is why I really valued it as a course. Furthermore she is a super sweet and understanding person who cares about her students, but who still takes class and assignments very seriously. Loved the class and her.

She's a good teacher but challenging. Class is completely in Spanish, so be prepared for that. Also you get a decent amount of reading and homework for every class. The plus side is she doesn't give tests, instead she gives projects. I would recommend this class if you are ready to work and wanting to develop reading and speaking skills

Good class, but lots of material to cover. She uses movies on occasion. Sometimes we didn't even talk directly about the reading, other times it was critical to in class discussion.

Comment:
S328 with Dinverno is great if you speak poor Spanish and are fine with a B in the class; however, if you actually enjoy Spanish class and have some talent, be warned. She gives inane homework assignments, forces classroom discussion in her own predetermined direction, and gives everyone the same grade (B). I was highly disappointed in this class.

Best professor I've ever had. Makes me want to go back to school just to take her classes. I lived in Spain and her class helped more than I ever could imagine to prepare me.
