Comment:

Definitely enjoyed the easy A, but now I'm struggling in ICS 311 because of it. If you want to do well in the future, do not take discrete math with Bauer because you literally learn nothing. I recommend taking it at another campus if possible or making sure you self-learn discrete math before ICS 311!

I took this course, got an easy A. Then took ICS 311 and failed. This class does NOT teach anything. Easy A, but you learn nothing! Professor takes forever to reply to email.

Kinda easy A, quizzes and HW are fairly easy and you can retake it. Programs cant be submitted again and those are kinda hard. So either go to his ofc hours or group up. He goes by point grading so as long as you resubmit your HWs for full credit. Solid choice

No texts required, no other platforms to do your work. Required materials consist of a computer to work on and Microsoft software *FYI can find online for free; use your UH email. Lecture videos were provided to help with assignments. One group collab project. NO exams. Just a final project. Deadline every Tues. Can finish ALL projects in one day!

His online class is cake. His test questions are harder than his examples so you'll need to actually think for those. But do the quizzes and exams as you go through each lecture and it stays fresh in your mind. I really recommend watching the lecture videos. Plenty of practice problems to help. Also replies quickly to messages.

I took this course during the summer. He makes the understanding of the material clear. Watching the videos really helped and doing the self-test on the videos really helped me understand the material as well. The quizzes and the midterms can be bit tricky compared to the self-test, but if you follow all the rules he states you got it made.

Michael Bauer is awesome. I took this class over the summer. He states the material very clearly. Do the examples on the videos he gives. They are a great prep for the quizzes and midterms for this course.

Took his online summer course. Grading scheme is four quizzes worth 25 points (Best 4 out of 5) & 2 exams worth 50 points. Grading scale was straight with 180-200 A, 160-179 B, etc. Quizzes/Exams were easy as problems were similar to the ones on the powerpoints. Powerpoints were enough to pass the class, referred to lecture videos when necessary.

Online class started a little rocky but ended up being pretty easy. Mr. Bauer is extremely helpful and answers emails within good time. He was super lenient with technology problems and it was great :)

this instructor is very awesome, i havn't done work for a month and i made it all up in about 5 hours. this instructor teaches right out of the book and understands it as he has been doing it for 20 years. i completely reccomend this class, you won't regret it however you must show up

Mike knows his stuff. Makes programming extremely easy and understandable. His lectures are monotone but you can tell he has enthusiasm for the subject, if that makes any sense. Best part is, assignments are allowed to be late and resubmitted for perfect scores because he wants you to keep trying until you LEARN it. Highly recommended.

I took this class online. Its a good amount of work, but both the test & assignments are easy. He is also very helpful and nice. I liked how we were able to finish the class as fast as we were able too. The final exam is open from day one, as well as all the assignments and tests for the whole semester! I highly recommend this class!

Comment:

A really chill & laid back teacher. Assignments & quizzes are super easy because of multiple choice. Still collects late work, but just as long you turn it in to get the credit. Recommend this class, easy to pass. You can go on the internet & he wouldn't even care. There is a final exam at the end, and multiple choice too. You don't need the book.
