Great professor. He's super caring and lenient when you're going through a hard time; he allowed me to turn in a few tests late due to unfortunate circumstances. The tests had over 110 questions with only 120-130min to complete it, so be prepared to study a lot and sit there for a few hours at a time to complete it. Be prepared to watch long films.

Great professor. He is very passionate about the subject he teaches. There are pop quizzes at the beginning of almost every class. You MUST be on time in order to take it. Tests are mainly just all of the quizzes compiled together plus a few questions from the handouts. BE AWARE he DOESN'T tell you your letter grade until AFTER the final.

Great teacher! can talk for hours of the subject, very passionate. Tests are mostly from the pop quizzes he gives out, but he made the topic interesting especially by giving hand out notes, will watch a film second half of class

I enjoyed the class but found his lecture style to be a little rambling. He would often ask leading questions which students didn't answer immediately and he was obviously frustrated by this. The quizzes mostly covered previous handouts and the exams were covered by quizzes and handouts. I did the reading, but in hindsight it wasn't 100% necessary.

The handouts he gave didn't even match the test leaving me clueless as to what the answers to the actual test questions were. Fire this man. He doesn't give study guides for tests

So many pop quizzes, but most of the information comes from the lecture handouts he gives, so if you read over those you'll be fine. As for tests, look over past quizzes and lecture notes he gives and you'll pass. I didn't really read any of the chapters except a few and came out with a B. you will have to visit a museum and write about that.

Overall a good professor. His class is lectures and videos, with a pop quiz nearly every week. He grades based off how many points you've gotten over the semester as opposed to average. (100+ D, 200+ C, etc). He sometimes lets his political bias show in class which can be quite annoying, but he is normally quite good about staying objective.

Pavlik is fantastic! Had him for two classes last semester back to back and I never got tired of hearing him speak! He is a genius! Never received anything less than an A in his class. Pop quizes aren't hard just do the reading and look over notes! Tests are directly from the notes he gives! Make conversation he hates a quiet classroom.

Mr. Pavlik is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is really adamant on having his students learn, he tries to stray you away from being all about receiving a good grade. This man is a walking encyclopedia. His lectures are long sometimes, but as long as you pay attention you will do well on his quizzes and tests.

Teacher was Very uptight at first, but halfway through semester, loosened up and became more open and enjoyable. More than half class dropped class, but I'm glad I stuck it out bc I studied review sheets he gave us, and read homework assignments and made an A. He wants you to do well, if he sees your are trying, he will give you credit u deserve.

Don't take his class. Extremely boring! His tests don't really match reading assignments. He acts like he will be very understanding about things that may interfere with attendance and other circumstances such as topics for essays but when you do approach him or inform him of things, he gets really petty and rude with you! Pick a different professor

as with many professors at JJC Wonderful guy, terrible teacher, all he does is talk about random things that are irrelevant to the class material in most cases,he sometimes will shoot down your opinion even though its a sociology class and he should embrace different opinions, all in all, easy class, just super boring, you do need to show up though

Half of the class is lecture (reading off the handout he gives you) and then comes some random film. There is a pop quiz right before the exams. Never opened the book and got A's on all my exams. Just study off the quizzes and the handouts. There's only one essay. Easy class, just boring.

Half of the class is lecture and the other half you watch a movie. The lectures are super boring but if you look over the chapter the quizzes aren't to hard. The tests have the same questions as the quizzes. basically if you miss a class then you miss a quiz

you honestly don't need to book to do well in class. I looked at it once and got a B. There are a lot of movies and many pop quizzes. If you study the sheets he gives you, the tests and quizzes are not hard. I didn't pay attention in class, just studied on my own, and I did fine. I would not reccomend him though.

Has an weird sense of humor, but he's a good guy. Will do what he can to help you succeed. Class is very straight forward, just follow the syllabus and you'll be golden. I'd recommend him definitely. Just don't take his humor too seriously!
