Intelligent, incredibly knowledgable, experienced, nice, occasionally funny, terrible prof. Inept w technology. The only reason to go to class is for quiz dates and reading assignments. If you like old school go ahead and enroll but the teaching profession has advanced to become more effective and he just hasn't. Keep cashin' them checks Lazda.

Prof. Lazda has an amazing background, just Google his name!! He's very intelligent and passionate! I recommend this class to anyone genuinely interested in history who likes to read and is willing to pay close attention in class. He's not very loud or exciting but if you're mature enough to listen and well-rested enough to stay awake it's great!

Are you still awake? You wont be 5 minutes into his lectures. Its like being stuck in the teacher scene in Ferris Bueller. My advice is to drink a two liter bottle of Mt. Dew before class and pray he doesn't call on you.

RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN! I looked forward to this class, but soon after realized i should have listened to the ratings on here. He is Dry, monotone, speaks quietly, calls on you in class and even when you say you dont know the answer he will sit there and continue asking you the question but in different ways. Nice guy, terrible professor.

Professor Lazda loves what he is teaching, but the class is not easy to follow. He teaches based on photographs and lecture, no powerpoint. The quizzes/tests aren't too bad, if you pay attention. Also, typical 10 or so map identifications. Two books for class, easy reads. Professor Lazda more or less EXPECTS his students to come to office hours.

Dr. Lazda is very passionate about what he teaches, though can be hard to follow. Technologically unsavvy- you'll be taking your notes from his lectures, but he's generally pretty vocal on what he wants you to know. Study guides provided are ok, but it's a bit disorganized overall. If you can deal with some minor headaches, would recommend.

One thing. Don't take this prof if you are a student who is smart and cares about your academic performance. Your semester will be awful if you take him and have no option to drop him.

8 a.m. class with this guy is not a good idea. It's very hard to stay awake. There's no question that he loves what he's teaching, he's just not very good at getting us excited about it. He's also really bad with technology, and there aren't any powerpoints or anything to help us take notes, just listening to him talk and frantically writing.

Pros: Tests/quizzes aren't too hard, a lot of extra credit opportunities, somewhat interesting subject Cons: He can be extremely rude and condescending, attendance is basically mandatory, and is a hard grader for short essays

While 3he knows so much and his life story is unbelievable, I would never take him again. Some of the things he put on tests weren't in our book or notes. The paper I wrote for him was the hardest paper I had to write because it was so boring and I couldn't find sources. When he turns off the lights, turns on the slides, and lectures, it's nap time

STAY AWAY! It was an 8am class, which I wanted to fall asleep in everyday. Maybe reading the text before hand might help (never did, due to unclear notes) but lectures were glossed over and hard to follow. Attendance fairly mandatory- only skipped when sick. Tests were average, studying helped.

Knowledgeable, passionate, and extremely experienced. We were given a study guide every week (which the exams were based on) and, though he lagged behind the syllabus a bit, his class was well-organized. Best History professor I've had so far...but take the advice and nab a seat in the front or tell your classmates to STFU. He's very quiet.

Lazda is the best prof. I've had at UW-Eau Claire so far. All the people who gave him bad ratings are haters. He is easy to come to if you have any concerns and his level of knowledge is ridiculous! If you're looking for an interesting history class take him!

A good prof., if you are expecting to be spoon fed applesauce, then don't take it. If you pay attention at all you will do very well in this class.

Do not take Lazda at 8 a.m. You will fall asleep at least once. His tests are reasonable. He is definitely a very intelligent man however, it is hard to understand him at times. Sit in the first two rows.

A smart, experienced man, but a terrible professor. His class is disorganized, his lectures are incomprehensible, and the quizzes are extremely hard to prepare for; he throws seemingly random questions on them. His expectations of you are virtually unknown, and it's very frustrating for everyone. Avoid this class.
