Comment:

The teacher was nice, but his lectures are confusing and not organized at all. Very long and confusing readings with very little guidance. Ended up not even trying. Got an A but did not get anything out of the class.

Comment:

Sean Stidd is a respectable educator. Knowledgeable on the material . Responds to emails quickly and will answer questions. The class was only 100 points; therefore, make sure you do everything. Grading is fair and curved when necessary. Lots and lots of reading, but introduces philosophers from different periods of times and is very interesting.

Comment:

Sean is a stand-up professor and a great resource for philosophy. I absolutely recommend taking his class. His commentary about different philosophers is insightful and fun. Even if you love or don't know about philosophy, I'd recommend this class! I didn't hear much personal feedback, but he's great about responding to emails!

Comment:

Don't take this class just to fill easy elective credits. This guy did't grade our midterm paper (worth over half our grade) until December. Didn't learn a single thing. Highly recommend finding another class that you'll actually enjoy.

Comment:

Stidd's classes are full of high quality, intense, fun philosophical discussions. His knowledge on the history of philosophy in all eras is unmatched at this point in my academic career. Any aspiring philosopher should take his courses. Fantastic professor.

Comment:

I think his class format is horrifically boring for anyone that isn't a philosophy major. Long lectures of nonstop talking, barely any notes on the board so keeping focus is a nightmare. He is humorous and kind enough, however, and gives good advice. Attendance and participation matter tho, and that sucks for these two and a half hour lectures.

The lectures felt insignificant, this could be an online course, always off topic and he seemed to question himself a lot. Essays make up your entire grade, be ready to sit in class and listen to him talk for an hour.

The only reason to study philosophy at Wayne is to take this professor. Seriously. Even if it is for an elective, it is worth it to take him.

We only had 5 papers, no homework, quizzes or exams. Based on lectures and/or readings. Sometimes felt that the lectures were off topic or unnecessary. But Prof Stidd is hilarious and had the class laughing a lot. He did not update my grades in Canvas throughout the semester which was annoying.

Get ready to sit in class and have him talk the whole time. Does not use Powerpoint slides, so beware trying to write down all he has to say. 5 page papers due at the end of every month. Had to buy a ton of little books for 'required' reading and he also has more readings linked in syllabus. He does take attendance everyday.

Mr. Stidd is a hilarious teacher, he makes his lectures memorable,by talking more with you rather just at you. Theres no homework or anything. Just four papers due end of each month. Hes an easy grader just put a good argument,he respects opinions and grades for quality. Would definitely take him again.

I didnt really have a problem but it seems that his online class took a back burner. He took six weeks to grade the first few weeks of assignments and nearly three to grade the midterms. The last things he graded were only a couple days ago, and that was nearly a week and a half after the final was turned it. Wouldve appreciated faster grading.

There are four assignments total for this course, and It takes an excessively long time for grades to be posted. All assignments are hand graded, but It still takes too long. He does not give you feedback after assignments are graded. And the fact that there are only 100 points total, it is difficult to get an A.

Love this guy, very humorous, really knows his stuff. Be ready to read the pages he tells you to though. The reading is not very heavy, but sometimes a little hard to understand. He does take a while to grade the quizzes, but as long as you put in effort he will grade well. I wish I could take him for all my classes. Thanks Mr. Stidd!
