Really sweet guy. Not the easiest to understand, but if you put in the work, you'll get it back. VERY GENEROUS WITH PARTIAL + EXTRA CREDIT. While it is not a requirement, the book was very useful to me in our class. While his lectures were not the greatest, he made up for it with good partial/extra credit and was very kind and answers questions

Dr. Ai is understanding, dedicated, and realistic. No required homework or quizzes. Only 4 tests and a final exam. He gives practice tests from previous years to study for this year's tests and they're practically the exact same. He's very intelligent if you take the time to try to understand him since sometimes his English is not the clearest

Really cares about your learning. He will work through each problem in the homework with you, making sure you understand each step. Tests were hard but not terribly so. But only if you attend lectures and actually do the homework. Otherwise you will be extremely lost on the tests.

Good professor. Homeworks were informative and while they required a lot of work they weren't torturous. Exams were reasonable and relevant to the lecture.

Challenging professor, but I somehow managed to get a B in his class. Took him for DE. Accent is a little hard to understand, but it's something to which I could adjust. Pretty good about helping out during office hours. He also gave some extra credit opportunities. Expect quizzes every week.

You could talk DE with this dude for hours! Man studies them for a living. Made the class interesting and I gained a lot of insight being in the class.

I really liked his class! He grades on whether you have the process of solving the problem right (i.e., understand the theory). That's more important than silly arithmetic errors. Meet with him during office hours; if you work problems with him, he will make sure you thoroughly understand how to find the answer on your own for next time.

Do the assigned HW problems and you should ace the tests and weekly quizzes - the problems are identical or very similar. The book is found online and isn't that helpful. He does a lot of in class examples straight from the book and is pretty reluctant to solve problems students ask in class. He is probably more helpful during office hours.

Dr. Ai's assignments were quite difficult. However, he is very helpful in pointing you in the right direction when you get to a sticking place. I learned a TREMENDOUS amount from his lectures and ESPECIALLY the assignments. Highly recommend him!!!

Good professor. The way he taught the course made the subject matter accessible; and makes the transition into the next couse easier. Also, the material in the course helped out with Linear Algebra.

Thought he was a great instructor! Lectures were informative. He's a fairly lenient grader - he doesn't nip you to death by taking off alot of points for minor arithmetic errors. He cares more about you understanding the fundamental concepts and being able to do the proofs - unlike several professors in the department that I could mention.

The problems on homework and quizzes are easy, but he never teaches you how to do them, so it takes forever to figure it out. The lectures are just on derivations and maybe a few proofs. Basically the lectures don't reflect the tests. If you don't plan on taking 626 the next semester take 506 instead.

I thought he was a good prof (a little disorganized, but otherwise great to learn from). I agree with the other poster who said you have to pay more attention to what he writes than what he says. To the MA 653 poster - dude, it's Real Analysis!!! It's supposed to be hell, whoever teaches it!!!

I actually was preparing for the worst when enrolling for this class, but honestly I enjoyed it. He's a really nice guy. Sometimes you just have to watch what hes writing more so than what hes saying though. And he is always willing to help out in any way he can but the material is not necessarily easy.

Avoid this professor if at all possible. His conversational English is lacking. He couldn't answer questions b/c he didn't understand what we were asking. The only way I came out of this class with a B was by getting his old tests and studying them. The book isn't very helpful either.

I had Dr. Ai for the Complex Analysis class last summer. While he is a nice guy and means well in the end, he tends to stumble and get lost in certain topics that consist of a lot of details, like long proofs and such. I ended up doing well in his class, but he assigned TOO MUCH homework, plus I had to read the book many times to understand.

Mr.Shangbing Ai was very hard to understand during class. He has a very thick accent and his english is simply broken! Not only are you trying to learn high math, but your trying to learn his language. You should get 2 grades in this class. Athens State University....here I come! :)

His English skills are lacking, thus it makes the class terribly difficult. It is apparent that he is very intelligent and understands the material. However, I found the class difficult b/c he was hard to follow (and understand due to his verbal skills). Tests are fairly easy if you are able to teach yourself the material. Get old tests if you can.
