Doesn't grade for attendance, only use of D2L is for supplemental material or study guides, papers or for exams. You have two 5 pagers to write followed by a 10 page term paper! Lectures are ok and help out to a degree. Pretty dry class but ok if you can get past those papers. Never used the book.

Intro courses are boring no matter who you take, but they're in-depth at higher levels. She's extremely helpful and will work with students if they have a problem, such as having been sick. She knows her stuff and will explain anything in a lecture/the book that is unclear if you just ask her. She's hilarious, too.

Lectures were topical, not in depth and not helpful when it was exam time. Assignments were fairly easy, although they did require some research. Grading expectations were sometimes unclear. Exams were somewhat difficult. She pulled exam questions out of her butt. Seriously, questions did not correspond to lecture material. She seemed unfriendly and accused several people of plagiarism. If you ignored her and focused on the textbook you might actually learn something.

Great class. Shows lots of interesting films. Do the reading, go to class, practice essays for exams. TA DOES handle a lot of the work, but she's still a great teacher who is really dedicated.
