To those who are planning to take LFS 250 with her on Term 2 or for the following years, better mark my words: DO NOT TAKE IT EVEN THOUGH IT SAVES YOU TIME. DO NOT TAKE IT IF YOU STILL CARE FOR YOUR GPA. This course is a lot more worse than CHEM 233 or BIOL 200. I am very disappointed that the faculty still keeps this course going.

No, don't take it. She is extremely un-flexible, somewhat passively aggressive, I really disliked taking her class and regretted it. Lots of homework, vague rubrics, tough marker, a heck lot of reading. I would strongly advise you to not take this class with her.

I took the 1-semester LFS 250. There are literally tonnes of readings (I didn't believe that before taking it...) The instruction and rubric for the weekly journals are vague. For example, some journals don't need in-text citation and some journals do. And the rubric doesn't tell you which requires in-text citation... Best to do it for all...

I do not like her at all. She is extremely un-flexible and not understanding students. If you do not do as she asks, which her criteria are extremely vague, you will not get a good grade. It's hard to understand what she expecting especially when her rubric is absolutely terrible. Lots of writing and reading. Did not enjoy this class at all.

I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the LFS 250 online course. The assignments and weekly discussions encourage critical thinking, the readings are carefully selected and relevant, and the prof makes an effort to make sure the group work goes smoothly. It's a lot of work (6 credits), but it was definitely worth it.

She is nit-picky on writing. Wont let you pass the course until the paper is exactly up to her standards, and still gives low marks on in the end. She literally will not let you get credit for the course until she is happy with the paper, even if you have a passing mark on it. Pretty sure thats not allowed but welcome to LFS UBC.

Awful teacher. Would say she wanted something done a specific way and make us take notes on it. Then when it came to grading the paper she would change her mind, often to how we had it in the first place when it came to making figures or graphs. Was completely unaware of what she was trying to give advice on. Micromanaged but only made things worse

Nobody in this class seemed to come out happy at the end of it. Lots of micromanaging on her part. My favourite is when she called people out for using their phones during lecture, loudly. Pour souls needed something to get through 3 hours of irrelevant lectures! Also tries to give technical feedback in fields with which she has no experience.

This prof is literally awful. Worst prof I've ever had. Had her for 3 classes, and this was literally the final straw. The entire course is a group project, which sucks to begin with, but then she tries to micromanage everybody's projects. I will admit she *occasionally* gives some good advice, but overall she just wants you to say what she thinks.

Her online course is great! Way better than taking the 4-hour 2x a week version. You just need to show meaningful contributions and critical thinking in everything you do, and you'll be guaranteed an A. The final assignment is a bit intimidating, but actually fun. Most of the time you can get away with doing 1-2hrs/week for the course. Easy 6 creds
