Skip is very funny. He is by far one of the smartest people I have ever met. He is very down to earth though. There is reading just like any other class, but the grade you receive is the grade you deserve. Very fun class. He is very well respected and has a ton of knowledge on the CRJ system. Would take for every class if available!

Skip is one of the best Criminal Justice professors at UNR. Whoever has given him bad reviews just hasn't done their part. He literally gives you the study guides to the exams, which are exactly the same, no surprises (T/F are the only thing different). There is a lot of reading but he covers them so well in lecture you can just skim and be fine.

As long as you study for the tests you will get an A, he is pretty clear of what is on them. Lectures are fine if you can sit through his cringey jokes.

He's certainly a character and the material is great! The class consists of four 7 short essays/20 T or F exams, a research proposal, and participation points. To earn those, each day he randomly calls on students to ask them a T or F question. Earning an A is possible, but it does require a lot of constant studying and reading. Overall fun class.

This class was way harder than I expected. There is a lot of reading assigned every night and he asks questions about it the next day for points. So even if you do the reading and you get called on and happen to answer wrong, you still might get penalized. For this you must read and come to every class. The test are horrible and lots of writing.

TAKE HIM!!!! literally is the coolest professor i have ever had. Participation points are just T or F questions he will ask you those like once every class. (if that) he gives you study guides. he will give you the essay options and you just have to memorize those and your golden and about 50 or so T or F questions.. read read though

Griffin is a really cool professor. Very straight-forward in his grading. For his exams he gives you the topics for the essays, all you have to do is write them yourself and memorize them. Tests are all true/false and then essays. This class is very easy if you just read the material and he usually curves which is always nice.

Literally he puts all the studyguides for the exams in the beginning of the semester. Print those out and bring to class and he'll go over it just pay attention. Extremely easy if you stick to studyguides and study those. Only one paper assigned at the end of semester on an article he chooses.

This class Was definitely the easiest class I took in the crj department. I loved the way he made a night class so funny and honestly he's one of the few professors I would take again. If you just come to class, take notes, and participate the class is a breeze.

An intense class to take in the summer due to all the content squeezed into 5 weeks. Reading is required every day and TF quiz questions are randomly given throughout class time (which effect your class participation grade). You definitely need the textbook and to keep your phone put away! Tests are tough, but there is a curve so that helps.

Five midterms, one final, one major research report. Tests are tough, never know exactly what he's asking. Doesn't give help when you don't understand. Don't get your tests back to find out what you got wrong and how to do better next time. Very scatterbrained. Doesn't have complete explanations of terms on slides.

He's an acquired taste--very sarcastic--but really cool. Participation counts. He's explains everything in detail & notes are a good idea! He has review days for all the the tests & tells you what's on it. He replies to emails quickly and is always around for office hours. If you go to class and ask for help you'll do well & learn a lot!

Definitely take this class with Skip. It's a CRJ requirement, but he breaks it down so you don't have to suffer TOO much. Tough class, tough tests, but he keeps it rolling forward and makes it as "un-mathy" as possible if that's not your thing. Prepare to study hard for his test. Very fair guy and super smart to boot. You'll learn CRJ Methods!

Skip is a good guy and can be helpful, but YOU have to do your part. Go to his office hours (and bug him!!), submit "drafts" at LEAST 3 weeks in advance if you want meaningful feedback. ATTEND class, pay attention!, participate, and take good notes. A's are possible in this class but you have to EARN IT!

These ratings had me worried going into Skip's class, and now I'd have to disagree with most of them. His class was really not that hard. I've taken way harder. Go to class, take notes, and study for tests. Anyone taking this class is a junior/senior, and a crj major or pre law major, so you should be prepared. It's not a super hard or boring class

I didn't like Skip. Class was hard, he made it worse, wasn't very clear, it was very confusing, & he was hard to get a hold of in order to help. Lame humor. Rude person. Talked about his "youth" a lot. Attendance wasn't mandatory but if you missed a day, you're screwed. His notes were very unclear & he didn't put anything online to reference later.

Skip seems like a fun person to go to a bar with, but he's not the best professor, in my opinion. He tells jokes, makes fun of people, and talks about smoking weed most of the class which for some might be entertaining, but to me it's just very unprofessional. Attendance isn't required but strongly reccommended due to the difficulty of the course.

Dont think this is just an ordinary criminal justice course. His test are pretty hard, and if you miss a day of class, well you're totally screwed buddy! In just one lecture period he goes over so much material, and he doesnt post his notes online or web ct, so you really have to attend class. Dont have someone else take notes for you, go to class

Hell of a teacher, and a great change from what you normally have to deal with in UNR's CJ department. after taking many classes taught by chaires an lentz, i found this guy to be a much needed breath of fresh air. you will probably have some disagreements with his theory or even approach, but trust me its not bad, especially compared to some of t
