Comment:
The class is dreadfully boring. His lectures are janky because his slides are all out of order. He definitely knows what he's talking about, though be prepared for him to talk down to you. The assigned essays are whack because you have to use this terrible outline for all of them and his grading system is lowkey arbitrary.

While he was pretty nice, his lectures were quite boring, even during days with group presentations. The class is graded on group projects (easy and short) and papers, which he did not give feedback on unless you were able to schedule an appointment to discuss. The textbook is needed for assignments but you can get away with not reading everything.

Intro to Psych: Dr. Jagaroo is the smartest person I've met in the psychology field. He is extremely knowledgable but I feel like he'd be a better fit as a prof at a massive research institution. He isn't the most personable guy but he tries his best. I didn't learn all that much but he lectures a lot and expects you to read the textbook.

this class was... kind of unbearable? reading the textbook helped me learn more than listening to the lectures. a lot of what he says in class is unclear. papers are in an unnecessary and terrible format template. becomes very reliant on group projects as the semester goes on. exams are pretty easy as long as you review the given study questions.

You definitely need to really pay attention in his class and he isn't the greatest lecturer I've ever had but he's really smart and explains everything well. If you're interested in the brain and psychology and willing to put the work in, I'd definitely recommend him because you'll really learn a lot.

Incredibly monotonous. A pointless class. Interesting material in theory but boring, monotonous in practice. He just reads the textbook to us in slides in a way that isn't comprehensive at all. God forbid you break the incredibly stupid format on his papers unless you fail. Papers are easy though. Actually learning the material is nearly impossible

He is the nicest professor ever!! He treated his students with respect and graded reasonably. You will be fine if you follow his instructions. The group presentations were a little much, but it was an interesting class!

Comment:
Lectures for the entire class repetitive from what is in the textbook. Even the slides are made by the creators of the text book. No room for discussion or application of the materials. I expected psychology to be a interesting course from what I had heard, but this specific class was incredibly monotonous.

Jagaroo is a terrible teacher. Spends the entire class just reading a slideshow provided by the textbook company. Literally takes moths to give back assignments and doesn't give us any indication of what our grade in his class is. Eventually he just has students read the slides while he sits in the back. Falls asleep while students are presenting.

Has repeatedly defended homophobic, transphobic, and ableist rhetoric on biological grounds and did not shut down discussion comparing autism to a disease. Should have expected this of a class where the first open topic was about eugenics. This is on top of a useless paper format, condescending behavior, and that he leaves most education to us

Very bitter about liberal arts education despite the university he chooses to work for. Condescending to students despite expecting expert preparation and insight. Study from the book/slides, check in frequently on due dates, and don't miss more than three classes, you'll be fine. (Also insists on illogical paper template with bad formatting)

Comment:
The professor drones through book notes with little deviation from the prescribed topic and leaves the rest of the teaching to group presentations presented by the students. Furthermore, the papers have to be formatted very specifically, and God help you if you can't adhere to it. Doesn't remember he is at an arts school, mean, avoid at all costs.

Vinoth is obviously passionate about the subject matter, but forgets he is teaching at a small liberal arts college not a large state school. His TAs get in the way of the class, and he seems to frantic through the content a lot.

Comment:
Currently in Brain and Behavior. Although I was expecting a more psychology based course, it turns out the class is more focused on neuroanatomy. Unfortunately, Vinoth is painfully boring and all he does is lecture. He is extremely condescending: he spoon feeds the assignments, but expects students to be experts in the information. DO NOT TAKE.

Easy class, everything you are tested on is straight out of the book or the power points, which are word for word what is in the text. Attendance is taken by sign in sheet. He is extremely intelligent, but not very good at explaining things. Lots of group presentations, 2 papers, midterm and final exam make up the grade.

Jagaroo is a BRILLIANT man. His class is so informative and interesting. It's not an easy A, and you'll really have to study for his tests. He has a very dry sense of humor but you'll find yourself laughing a lot. He's very strict on guidelines for papers and presentations--just follow the syllabus and reading and you'll be fine.

I have taken many classes w/ Vinoth and he is by far the BEST professor. There's not a huge workload-2 papers2 exams, group presentations. He provides a detailed outline of how he wants the papers and basically tells you what diagrams will be on exam.I highly recommend taking his class if you actually want to learn &dont mind putting in the effort!

Comment:
Dry but isn't the most boring class in the world. He does a good job of trying to engage the class. The exam is multiple choice and labeling diagrams, so is multiple choice isn't your strongest thing, you may want to avoid this one. But if you have a strong interest in Psychology and you put actual effort into the class you should be fine.
