Comment:
Professor Schrader is very kind and conducts a very interesting class but you definitely want to get on her good side. She is great and very helpful if you do but I've heard not so great things from those who didn't. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and found that I really learned a lot and grew as a writer. Sometimes the reading was excessive.

Easily one of the brighter professors at F&M, particularly in her field of study. Very explicit and insightful lecturer, who allows for appropriate tangents, which can be beneficial to general learning. Expects a lot from the students writing capabilities, but provides excellent feedback when asked. Would recommend for anyone interested in history.

Professor Schrader is one of the top professors at F&M. She is an amazing lecture who has endless insight on Soviet history. Her lectures are pack full of facts and there are never any dull moments in her class. Her assignments are tough and their purpose is meaningful. They are rigorous in order to ensure your complete understanding of lectures.

Clear lectures, great readings, and very good at creating meaningful class discussions. However, paper writing was a ridiculous process. She told nearly my entire class to rewrite their papers from scratch multiple times. It was difficult to decipher what she wanted.

Professor Schrader expects her students will put forth effort and engage with often challenging material. If you do that you will be rewarded. If you slack off, you're not getting a free pass. She's especially great if you have an interest in methods and historiography. Getting a good grade from her is validation that you've got mettle.

Even though she is a tough grader, Prof. Schrader is one of the best professors I've had on this campus. She tries to be really clear even on difficult to understand material and really tries to make her comments on papers helpful. She's also fair and consistent and takes note of progress when it comes to grading.

One of my favorite professors. She is harder than most but fair and always willing to help if you reach out. I wasn't very interested in Russia but became so after the class. I'd definitely recommend her.

Good teacher, knows her stuff. You have to do the readings and really care about russian history if you want to do well. Make sure you start off well because she puts everyone into a rut where you get all B's or all A's no matter what you actually submit.

Very interesting class and it was great that she knew so much about the topic, above and beyond what i expected. Even if you don't have an interest in Russia, you will after this class. A little bit hard of a grader but then again you are attending F&M, what do you expect?!

if you want to write papers of god awful required lengths, take her class. which is very boring. not recommended for anyone unless they have SERIOUS interest in russian history. information she wanted for tests was ridiculous. worst class, least interesting professor at F&M. She was nice though, but i wouldn't take her class. Ever. EVER.

Although there is a bit of reading for this class (and writing, especially around the mid-term and final) she always makes it extremely clear what she wants, and as long as you do that, you'll get an A. She's very nice and goes out of her way to help you with the work. Very enthused about history (especially Russian history)

Her lectures always strayed from the outline. I had to teach myself the entire class before the final. I have never gotten a C on a paper, and she gave it to me. Very critical grader of papers. Awful, awful professor- really nice lady though.
