Very interesting professor. He viewed each class lecture as a performance and as such didn't allow questions during class. I was very fortunate to have him for a Honor's section of Soc115 in which we could dialogue with him.

Horrible teacher, the entire class failed the midterm, your grade is dependent upon a paper which he gives you no guidelines for and grades extremely harshly. He is absolutely unapproachable and screams if you try, I was completely terrified. Do not take this class unless you want to kill yourself.

* Intro to Sociology * Easiest class offered at UAlbany, as you could never show up, take the online quiz reviews, and pass with flying colors on exams. No reading required. THAT BEING SAID, Higgins's class is an event-- very entertaining diatribe from a charismatic, crumudgeonly old fossil. His lectures often are the highlight of your day.

Higgins is the best lecturer I have ever encountered! The man is really passionate about his discipline, and he is always available to answer questions and just to go over information you may not have understood. Captivating and interesting, could make the dullest subject something you want to major in. I hope he is well. Will be missed!

I found him to be a really interesting professor... had wild outbursts, told great (and sometimes quite insightful) stories, and gave TONS of extra credit. Between that and doing the practice questions online he gives you, you'll do fine on the tests. A little difficult to get ahold of if you need to talk to him but really enjoyable as a professor.

BEWARE!!! I dont know if he is still here or not, but this jerk gave me the wrong midterm and didn't have enough copies of the final and as a result, i got an incomplete and he wouldnt grade my paper for a grade. i ended up failing and filing a grievance. THIS MAN IS THE REASON I HAD TO STAY LONGER AT SUNY!!! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!

you will never fall asleep when he is teaching..he has random outbursts and yells at the top of his lungs..hes a really interesting guy who knows what he's talking about....tons and tons of extra credit offered, do it because theres only 2 tests in the class
