Ryba is great. He teaches really well actually, but CS is such a hard subject that you can't blame him if it seems too tricky at first. His curves are a godsend, you can literally get a 10/40 on all the tests (including the final) and still pass the class with a C. Don't rely on just the prof, study hard outside of class for any CS class.

i didn't go to lectures since my lab teacher taught me the material better. first week he talked so much and went past class time that i almost missed my next class. go hella early to get seats in the front to see DEF go early for (2) midterms and final to get seats in the front for more test time. study the material and practice and you'll be okay

He's informative and funny in lectures. He can go fast though (not his fault due to snow days). He doesn't give much examples as much despite the fact that it's a geometry course. He means well though. I got a B because I decided not to take the final (could've gotten higher grade) by choice because I had a different final the same day.

Ryba is an awesome professor!!! His teaching style is very clear, so as long as you practice some code on your own you'll do well in his class. His lecture was very enjoyable. He's a really funny dude too.

You should really kick off your CS major with this guy. Don't get intimidated by the lectures, with enough practice ,you'll get the hang of it. He is really good at relaying the material. Make sure you do as many practice exams as possible and you'll do great!

Makes computer science easy and fun. His lectures are clear and if you want to pass go to his lectures even though attendance isn't mandatory. I'm not a computer science major but taking the course as a requirement as a math major.

Amazing professor, he teaches you what you need to get started, its your job to practice coding and take it a step further, a lot of students expect to learn all the coding from this class and are shocked when they move on to higher level classes.

His class is not hard. Many students like him because he gives easy A's but end up struggling in the next courses. Those students then fail and retake a course full of the students he passed which in turn ends up filling the class with these people. Its an endless cycle. Doesn't like cheaters. These cheaters want to be Comp science students, funny.

Professor Ryba is a great lecturer. His class is entertaining and informative. However, his exams can be unfair. Yes, he gives you a lot of practice problems. However, his exams are full of trick questions can trick you no matter how well you know the actual material. A more straightforward exam or fewer tricks would be nice. Overall, great guy.

Ryba really prepares his students for the next level of c++. You must go to his lectures, and exit them with a good understanding of the material. Make sure you do many practice problems before exams. If you put the effort in to study and learn, this class is an easy A.

Great Professor. He's very clear, explains the material in a step by step manner, and doesn't go too quickly during lectures. His tests are also not too difficult and there's a curve. It's an easy class and you don't need a background in computer science to take this class.

Amazing Professor. His lectures are clear however my lab class was of no use. But tutors are life saving for computer science. If you want to do good in this class then all you have to do is PRACTICE a bunch of problems that he gives on his website that are directly taken from his previous tests. To me personally, practicing those questions helped.

Lectures are excellent, but he is harder on his students in 313. His test questions from 111 are direct memorizing where as his 313 questions require you to think and can't always be taken straight from notes. Textbook was required for one of his homework questions.
