Dr. Chapman is awesome! Her lectures were interesting and thought provoking. She's very friendly and approachable. She grades her papers pretty tough but it is always fair grading. Her exams aren't too bad if you pay attention and do the reading. It's a fun class with the right amount of challenge. I'd take her again any day!!!

Took Dr. Chapman for 221 & 301. Best English teacher I've ever had! Easy to talk to, enthusiastic, intelligent, consistent with grading, and emails back quickly. Also the director of English undergraduate studies! Will be taking her again in the future!

Hands down, she is the best English professors I have had (and that's coming from an English major). She returns e-mails in a timely manner, has a willingness to help her students, and her course-work is easy! As long as you listen, pay attention to your mistakes, and correct them in the future there's no reason you should make below a C.

I like her as a person, and I like her lectures. However, her grading is weird. She skims right through your essays and will make comments that make no sense. Be sure to understand where she is coming from with her essays. The mycomplab things are confusing, but don't worry. Also, buy the book, print the pages, and return it.

She is very enthusiastic and answers all of your emails. She really tries to be open for questions. She goes over in detail about all papers and gives samples. She did grade my essays harder on content because I am a good stylistic writer. I would recommend her. She definitely has helped make an easy transition from high school to college.

Awsome Awsome teacher, She is always available and grades fair. The enthusiasm that she has for class is amazing. If you hate Literature, take Chapman, she will change your mind. I loved her and respect her for what she does. She loves her job and is good at it.

I took this class because it fit my schedule and satisfied a requirement and wound up loving both Milton and Dr. Chapman. She makes the subject fun and interesting and is very approachable if you have questions or concerns. I hope to be able to take more of her classes in the future.

I had Ms. Chapman for British Irish Lit. She has to be one of the most helpful and nicest teachers at UAB. Be careful though, it is not an easy A. You MUST do the readings and homework, her tests are long and sometimes challenging, and she grades hard on the papers; but if you come to class and take notes you will do fine. Took her for Renaissance Lit (excluding drama) and had a ball. The material was challenging, but Chapman was a helpful guide. Class discussions were lively, the exams were reasonable, ditto the homework. Very personable and willing to discuss your own ideas and interepretations about a text.

I went into this class with an optimstic attitude and left with pessimism. I liked her as a person, but not a teacher. She was a prime example of how UAB employs people with PhD's in their subject, but does not know how to teach it very well. She was very knowledgeable, but that was about it. Very disappointing...
