She is such a nice lady and professor. When she lectures in the lectures, they're so good because she lectures the course material for each class so well. She explains assignments well. Overall she is a good professor.

Alison is such an amazing prof! She's so passionate about the course and it really helped me to enjoy being there. There were a lot of workshops in lecture to help first year student. She is very forgiving with deadlines as long as you approach it properly and do not abuse her kindness. Assignments were always thought provoking and fun!

An incredible professor! Takes the time to appreciate you as a student; incredibly fair, made subject matter interesting by developing a syllabus and list of assignments that were flexible and fun! Halsall is knowable, kind, and an amazing professor!

Her lectures are absolutely amazing, she generally uses a powerpoint for broad points and then explains them throughout the lecture. The readings for this class were all really good, and Halsall takes her time going through them and telling us what she thinks are important parts. Overall, I really liked her and found she was one of the better profs

Usually rambles on in lectures. She is very unprofessional and extremely rude; doesn't make exceptions, EVER, does not accept anything late, and if you get on her bad side, she will not give you a good grade overall. If you do not keep in contact with her, she will assume that you do not care about your grades.

I can't begin to explain how amazing this professor is. Her lectures are phenomenal, she'll keep you engaged the whole time. She marks very fair and makes it clear how you got that grade. She is also very helpful. She is always willing to look at our outlines and assignment beforehand. I wish I could have her again. The course is interesting too.

Seemed like a very nice prof at first - very chatty and outgoing. However, I asked her a harmless question one day and she snapped, which was extra terrifying considering her usual demeanor. She is unnecessarily mean in her essay comments, and her lectures can be redundant too; expect to hear the words "sacred and profane" & "disconnect" a lot.

I was absolutely amazed at how much I loved Children's literature when I walked out. She's a wonderful professor and is extremely nice to everyone in class. She takes the time to introduce herself to you and actually have a conversation with you instead of just teaching and going home.

The course seemed easy in the beginning and I thought it was a for sure A but it became difficult halfway through and dropped it because itw ould bring my overall average down. She seems to act like its going to be easy but when you reach the second assignment, thats when she fails everyone!! Beware!

I failed her course and I am not illiterate, I have been getting A's in all of my courses but because she seems to be going harder on us this year than the previous years, I recieved a bad mark. She seems to have mood swings and is grumpy when it comes to teaching at times. I had a bad experience in her class. The exam was too difficult!

Alison is an extremely hard marker. Those that say otherwise are wrong. I know about 10 people that have been failing her course when it's supposed to be extremely easy. She does not put up her overheads or explain things clearly. There are too many books to read.

I wish she posted her overhead notes online, as she didn't seem to elaborate on them all that much and I could have skipped the lectures. She seems nice and helpful, but I found the lectures rather dull. A fair marker and not a hard course overall.

She is a marvelous teacher and first years should definitely consider taking this class. She taught us how to write essays and she also provides a lot of guidance inside and outside the class time. I hope that she becomes full time professor at York University.

Great Teacher. Very approachable and very helpful!! Simply, one of the best I have had so far, if not THE BEST!!! Her lectures just got better and better. The Last Lecture, I was applauding!!!!! Great!!!!!

She is a hard BUT fair marker. She does have higher standards in terms of English skills. She is very well dressed (I love it). She is always willing to listen and help you in any way possible! I'd recommend taking her classes to any confident English students!
