This is probably the easiest way to fulfill your capstone requirement. All you have to do is to do some research on the internet/assigned readings and read aloud your summaries in class. Opportunities of oral speakings are fairly distributed so even if you dislike class debate, you will be fine. There are no exams but attendance is very important

Prof. Hammock is really nice and has a good sense of humor. I liked the class a lot until it came to tests. If you have him for 102 honors, be prepared for essay tests on which he is a very picky grader. On some questions, he expects you to include specific percentages but doesn't actually ask for them in the question.

He used too many stats. His lectures never really helped with the preparation for the exams.

First of all, his name is Allan Hammock...not Hammond. I had professor Hammock for 102 and 230. I think he is a very good teacher who knows his material. As long as you go to class and pay attention to his lesson, you will be fine. If you take Pols 230, make sure you read everything he assigns, it will be on the test! Extremely nice and funny!

kinda hard to follow, could be worse though. He scheduled two tests on football gamedays (thursdays), which sucked.

Very good professor, makes the class clear and interesting. Is difficult, however, make sure you study the notes thoroughly before tests. Is always willing to answer questions. Basically, if you work hard you're rewarded.

I was really excited for this class at first but that died the 1st time Hammock took over the lecturing from Diclerico. Don't skip/sleep during his lectures even tho he is boring & jumps around b/c 90% of the test material comes from lectures. He's much nicer/easier/accommodating to the students who are in the dept than to those w/ general quest.

Although I've only had him for 102, I have visited his office with a general poli sci question. He made me feel like I was ruining his life by asking him a simple question...

Basing your opinion on 102 or 199 is hard. Once you have been in one of his smaller classes, you see how great a teacher he is. Dr. Hammock is willing to help with almost anything. He is a great teacher and a great department chair. Hopefully the new chair will be as good as he was.

he knows his stuff but the lectures can be really boring. One thing though, if you get up and leave in the middle of class without telling him you have to go beforehand he'll yell at you and make you stop and talk before leaving the class. He'll do that without fail, so don't leave early...

This guy is a joke. He babbles about things completely unrelated to political science for an hour and 15 minutes. He seems like a really nice guy, but it's a real shame about his teaching skills.

Hammock is somewhat boring but he's a genuinely good techer. His lectures kind of "drag their feet." He creates a really good atmosphere in class, though. Not too tough at all.

Very good professor. He's concise, knowledgable, but tends to jump around, that's forgivable though. I went to his office and we went over a great deal of things, so he's nice and helpful as well.
