A lot of people might not mesh with his teaching style. While he's a more soft-spoken guy, you can still tell that he's very knowledgeable when it comes to sociology. While he doesn't take attendance, it's always better to just go to class because a lot of his test subject matter he pulls from what he randomly will decide to talk about in class.

My favorite teacher on the Fredonia campus. He has on amazing talent for applying theories to things that are happening now. He has truly made me think more about the world I live in.

I honestly don't understand why everyone here dislikes him so much. If you pay attention during lectures, there is no way you will not get an A in the class. He is extremely fair in his grading and he doesn't ask anything unreasonable of his students. If you plan on trying at all in college, this class is very easy.

He is a really nice guy but a terrible teacher. He rambles on about random stuff and doesn't actually teach any of the necessary material. All of the learning is done through the chapter readings and quizzes he assigns 2-3 times a week. I would not recommend this class, it is extremely stressful having to teach yourself sociology.

Really awful professor and I don't recommend . This dude is horrible at making the class interesting and the way he presents the material makes it so much worse. Everything about the way he tries to teach has had no benefits to me as a student . I'm a solid A student before this and my grade suffered tremendously. Save yourself fellow humans.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. I made the mistake of taking two and I couldn't drop them because I needed to graduate. First of all, He is a wonderful person and so kind and caring. If you forget an assignment, just talk to him, hes very understanding most of the time. As for grading, I have D's in both classes and I'm an A student

The reading got to be so unbearable that I dropped the class. I would not recommend him for SOC 116 because of this. I think this is due to him having such a large class (we had 100 students at the beginning of the semester). As far as he as a professor goes, he is a nice guy and does try to help the best he can while trying to make it fair.

Buy the online version of the book for the online quizzes, you'll be able to to search for the answers much easier. You literally have to teach yourself the material, as he basically states in the beginning of the semester. There's a long presentation (5-7 min) and a short presentation (1-2 min), three exams, and like 10 online quizzes.

Nice guy, but terribly boring professor. The online quizzes are easy if you read, just don't be lazy. 90% of the test is out of the book. It was near impossible for me to pay attention in class. I have an A-, could have done better if i skimmed over the book a few times before the test. I personally would not take this class.

I thought he was a very good professor. His class inspired me to add a Sociology minor because the course information was very interesting. A study guide is given before each test and all the information for the test is on it. If you're capable of studying the information on the guide, then you'll do fine. He's also hilarious if you get his humor.

Went to every class and i have no idea why because pretty much nothing he ever says in class is on his exams. basically read your textbook because he will base his exams off that and only that. quizes are easy so that helped a lot.if you have to take a class w/ him its not the end of the world but i would avoid it because he doesnt kno how to teach

I'm not sure why everyone bashes Skinner, I think he's a rather great teacher. The topics he covers are very relevant to things going on in the country today. He uses a lot of videos and news articles to teach, which is helpful. If you are intelligent then you will understand his jokes and find them to be funny. Very friendly and willing to help.

NEVER take a class with this man. He is painfully boring and outdated. I attend every class and feel like I learn nothing. He tests on the text but doesn't teach from it. Not to mention, you can't read a single thing that the man writes on the board. I wouldn't recommend his class to anyone.

He is a super sweet guy, but he often goes on rants about material that is completely irrelevant. He talks under his breath and mumbles, it's hard to read his handwriting and he takes attendance every class, but his class is very simple and easy.

Don't take class with him...unless you can hieroglyphics because that's what his handwriting looks like. He also talks very quietly. During cold season when everyone is coughing it's pointless to go to class because you can't hear a word he says. Some of the topics covered in class seem irrelevant. He also randomly calls on people.

He feels the need to take attendance in an 8am lecture hall. His handwriting is terrible, you won't be able to read anything he writes. You also probably won't be able to understand it. He is very inconsistant as well. The class has the potential to be interesting, just not with him. Do not take his class.

He's a very dry speaker, and he mumbles when he talks so half the time you can't even tell what he's saying. His tests and quizzes are challenging, so make sure you study hard and do the reading. Overall, I don't recommend him. Avoid his class if possible.
