If you do not show up to class you will have no idea what is going on because you get a different handout pretty much every class. She is not clear at all with the instructions for these assignments so most of the time you have to wing it because she doesnt do a good job of explaining it when you meet with her.

She was not easy to contact by e-mail. She was never very clear on her assignments for the class, and cancelled the first week of class without telling anyone. She also contradicted herself on several assignments as well, especially when she demanded as little research as possible for a research paper.

she was my advisor, and also loved my class, so i usually felt at ease with her. she has her moody moments, but everyone does. her workload was a bit much, but im not sure how she is in her regular english classes. she was very good at letting the class decide the way the class would run and i appreciated it.

Chaucer ROCKS!! And Dr. Goodwin made this old author accessible to all her students. If you have a chance to take a class with her, you should because she is humorous and will teach you way more than you thought you could learn.

Dr. Goodwin is AMAZING! In the course, History of the English Language, I learned so much. She is very down to earth. She does expect her students to read, and, quite frankly, if you are an English major you should want to read anyway! She also makes class a lot of fun!
