Comment:

I would not recommend this professor to anyone who is not a history major. Lectures are wordy and circular and given with no visual aids. He is knowledgeable and knows it. He grades papers by how well you tell him what he wants to hear. Just send the paper in a week before it's due for him to revise then redraft. P.S. His handwriting is awful.

Comment:

Malvasi is one of the hardest professors I've had at macon. His class is based on 3 papers and he grades tougher than an english professor. He has too high of expectations of his students and doesn't realize that we are all not history majors. He would revise my paper and still give me a C. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.

A really nice guy and he wants you to do well. He's accessible and willing to help with just about anything if you just ASK HIM. He wants you to form your own ideas about history; not just reiterate what he just told you. If you're willing to put in the work and ask for help when you need it, you'll do just fine. P.S. His dog is adorable!

Gives good lectures and good feedback on papers. Accessible and Cordial. Knowledgeable in his material and enjoys History. Overall, you have to do your work and write to the best of your ability. If you can do those things, you'll enjoy it.

Malvasi grades way too harshly. You think you're writing what he wants to hear but your not. Nothings good enough him. He says he wants to help students get a good grade in class but he does not adhere to that. DO NOT TAKE ANY WITH HIM.

A great professor. Despite what other reviewers say, he doesn't just want you to regurgitate his own ideas back to him. He is tough, but its college, so stop whining. His lectures are very well organized and easy to follow, the reading is interesting, and he is very helpful if you have any problems.

Professor M gives thoughtful, well-organized lectures and creates a straightforward narrative throughout the semester. Took Problem w/ Slavery, Crisis of the Union, & Godfather as History. Tough but fair grade re: writing assignments.

The Godfather was interesting to watch, but Malvasi destroys all papers. Such a harsh grader, he likes his ideas and his only. He's really rude when he reviews and grades your papers. It's unclear as to what he wants from you. Very disappointed, I thought I was going to enjoy this class.

He definatly knows his history. He is great with his lectures and loves to have discussions with the class. He is an extremely harsh grader when it comes to his papers. 4 Papers is all that your grade will consist of. He did not get back to my e-mails. I enjoyed what I learned through his lectures, however I did not appreciate the grade he gave me.

GREAT lecturer. His passion for all facets of history is contagious. If you are a slacker, you'd do better to choose another professor, as Malvasi actually expects you to read, write, and do the requisite work for a grade. Show up, pay attention, do the work, and you will be successful in his classes. Best professor I ever had!

He is probably one of the smartest professors on campus but in his case that isn't a good thing. He grades way too harshly as if he expects a class full of freshmen to be graduate students. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS unless you truly have to, like in my case. Good luck.

BEWARE. I'm a B average student; in his class a D-. Emailed him on 3 different occasions, responded to my least important one. Knows his stuff, but reads his papers verbatum. Grades r 3 papers. Each of which he grades worse than English professors & takes a month to grade.My only recommendation is to stay away unless you want to lower your GPA
